Weekend Preview:
Meet the Fockers will pull off another weekend close $20 million. Its only major opening will be in Spaon and in UK it'll be hurt by Ocean's Twelve. That'll prevent it from getting $20+ million over the weekend, but $15-20 million is in store.
The Aviator will hold on well thanks to the acclaim and the Oscar fame. The opening in Russia will help it too. I see another weekend with barely over $10 million.
Closer's award buzz is wearing off, but another $5+ million for a $50+ million international total is in store.
Alexander's opening in Japan should be a good one as Troy performed very well over there and so did King Arthur. Expect $2+ million for Alexander in Japan and over $4 million for the international weekend
Ocean's Twelve will receive a great boost in UK and have its last weekend with over $10 million overseas probably.

The weekend outlook from yahoo movies:
Awards heat cooked up good box office returns for some Oscar-nominated films at the foreign box office, but "Meet the Fockers" easily remained the most popular film.
The comedy's estimated weekend haul of $18.3 million from 28 territories lifted its haul to $84.8 million, including $29.2 million from the United Kingdom.
In Spain, "Fockers" opened at No. 1 with $4.6 million, commanding 43% of the market, ahead of fellow rookie "Million Dollar Baby" at No. 2. The film remained at No. 1 in the U.K. with $8.8 million against a sterling $6.6 million opening for "Ocean's Twelve."
After an $11.8 million weekend, "Ocean's Twelve" climbed to a foreign total of $201.6 million. Mike Nichols' "Closer" made $6.5 million across 33 territories, lifting its total to $55.2 million.
Best-picture Oscar nominee "The Aviator" flew high in the U.K. and Germany, where it moved up to No. 1 after two weekends at No. 1. Its total in the respective countries rose to $20 million and $6.6 million.
Awards hype was similarly working well for "Sideways," which made $1.3 million for a total of $4.1 million. "Finding Neverland" also basked in awards glow, taking $2.2 million for a total of $14.2 million. In Italy, the film opened at No. 1 with $1.8 million.
Unfortunately, formidable award hauls and glowing reviews failed to translate into big dollars for "Ray," whose foreign total stands at $13.5 million after a $2.7 million weekend. Foreign distributor UIP said the film was on track to become the highest-grossing black biopic internationally, surpassing "Ali" at $25 million.
"The Incredibles" made $3.2 million for a total of $359 million, allowing it to surpass "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" as the 20th most popular film ever released.
"Elektra" proved disappointing internationally, taking $2 million. The total for the Jennifer Garner actioner stands at $18.9 million.

The Incredibles is still doing very well, might pass $630 million by the end of its run.
Ray is not doing too well overseas. I knew it wouldn't be huge, but I didn't expect it to have that little of success either. Still, $100 million worldwide should be within reach, especially with Jamie Foxx' Best Actor win.
Ocean's Twelve's international run is coming to an end, however, it'll break $360 million WW and that is already an amazing feat in itself.

FULL INTERNATIONAL WEEKEND REPORT
Meet the Fockers won the battle of sequels in the U.K. last weekend, remaining in first place ahead of opener Ocean's Twelve. Fockers fell only 36% from its massive launch last weekend to $8,666,694 from 458 screens for a stunning 10-day total of $29,114,665. Ocean's Twelve was no disappointment, however, grossing an estimated $6.6 million from 450 screens. It was 81% of Ocean's Eleven and 5% better than Catch Me If You Can. February is a very busy month in the U.K., which seems to have hurt Ocean's Twelve, which played better in the U.S. because it opened against only the counter-programming Blade: Trinity. Twelve and Fockers will see strong competition next week from Hide and Seek, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, and Son of the Mask. Fockers will remain the only straight comedy in the market, which will help it accumulate almost $50 million (and perhaps more) while Ocean's Twelve should see 40-50% drops for the remainder of its run.
Meet the Fockers added four markets over the weekend. In Spain it opened with $4,685,542 from 356 screens topping such movies as Bruce Almighty by 31%, American Pie 2 by 62%, and Something's Gotta Give by 161%. American comedies usually don't fare too well in Spain, which makes the opening that much sweeter. The only straight comedy to top Fockers' debut was Scary Movie 3's $5,627,072 opening from 433 screens. Smaller, but still impressive, openings came from Denmark ($376,757 from 35), Israel ($274,869 from 30), and Sweden ($415,241 from 50).
Overall Meet the Fockers grossed an estimated $16,286,010 from 15 countries for a $82,875,358 total.
Ocean's Twelve recorded a n estimated $11.2 million over the weekend for a $201.1 million total, thanks mainly to the U.K., Japan, and Turkey. In Japan the caper was off 38% to $2.4 million from 294 screens for a $21.3 million total. Ocean's Twelve had a superb launch in Turkey over the weekend, ranking No. 1. The market yielded $916,000 from 148 prints, which, in terms of admission, was 9% better than Ocean's Eleven and 48% better than Catch Me If You Can.
Racing Stripes improved its international total to $9.4 million thanks to a strong $2.1 million start in the U.K. The picture opened in third place there behind the two blockbusters.
France was another market dominated by titles. Leading the frame was local comedy Espace détente, which produced $4.1 million from 568 screens. Following the comedy was the English action-thriller Unleashed, starring Jet Li and Morgan Freeman, which grossed $2.1 million from 480 screens.
The Oscar contenders continued to open, expand, and play well in holdovers over the weekend.
The Aviator continued to be the highest grossing Oscar nominee, now both internationally and domestically, with an estimated $7.17 million weekend gross for a $43.67 million total, despite no major launches. In its second weekend in France the picture was off 44% to $2.2 million for a $6.6 million total. In Italy it also fell 44% to $1.5 million for a $5.1 million total. In Germany the Martin Scorcese epic was off just 20% rising from No. 2 to No. 1, grossing $1,356,659 from 322 screens for a $6,285,448 total. In week 7 in the U.K. it fell 39% for a $12.6 million total. Spain's total improved to $6.9 million while Mexico's total jumped to $2.657 million.
The Aviator seems only to be riding high on its awards and possibly Mr. Scorcese's prestige. Its advertising is not luring in audiences for its opening weekend and word-of-mouth isn't as good as it is in the U.S. Despite that, The Aviator can still top $100 million and possibly match Gangs of New York's $116 million.
Closer recorded another fantastic weekend, grossing $6,076,333 from 31 territories for a $55,268,274 total. By the end of next weekend it should have doubled its domestic total. Closer had an excellent start in South Korea, grossing $519,275 from 99 screens. Russia followed suit with a $223,569 debut from 55 screens. Closer also opened well in Finland ($60,562 on 12), Latvia ($12,677 on 1), and Slovenia ($22,319 on 5). Among holdovers Closer was highlighted by its 34% second weekend drop in Australia, which led to an $829,783 weekend gross from 157 screens and a $2,920,380 total.
Ray added another 8 territories to the international run last weekend and grossed $2,741,837 from limited and platform releases in 27 territories. The international cume is $13,442,317.
Ray had no openings to boast about despite releasing in 7 territories. Brazil was decent with a $152,303 gross from a limited 40 dates. It was at the same level as O Brother, Where Art Thou? and 8 Mile. Mexico opened soft with $48,771 at a limited 35 dates. Other very soft starts include Poland's $26,126 from 18 and Thailand's $8,811 from 5.
Ray continued to hold very well in the German-speaking regions as well as Australia, but fell quite steep in most other markets.
In Germany Ray with $373,374 at 131 dates, off just 9% in its fifth week. The 32-day cume is $3,622,782. It has already outgrossed such biopics as Ali, The Hurricane, Malcolm X, and What's Love Got To Do With It. In Austria, Ray grossed $48,736 at 37 dates, off 28% in its fourth weekend. The 24-day cume is an excellent $420,227. Australia had a great second weekend. Ray moved up to No. 4 from No. 6 last weekend and grossed $620,532 at 205 dates, off just 16%. The 11-day cume is $1,617,091. It is keeping pace with Ali and The Hurricane.
In Japan, Ray fell 32%, steep for the market, grossing just $271,584 from 103 screens, pushing its total there to $1,141,056. It was off 46% in the U.K. to $297,023 from 184 screens for a $2,617,192 total. Italy was off 49% for a $1,637,624 total and Spain tumbled 50% for a $654,970 total.
Finding Neverland saw a surprising start in Italy, which bodes well for its European run. In its opening weekend in Italy the Oscar nominee grossed $2.1 million from 269 screens. That put it in first place, bumping off Miramax stablemate The Aviator and topping the openings of Ladder 49 and Elektra. Still in its early stages of release Neverland has a strong $26.1 million from 15 territories. It launches in Austria, Germany, Spain, and Mexico next weekend.
Million Dollar Baby continued to supply solid results on moderate screen counts. In Australia it just missed pole position, held by Closer, with a $720,741 debut from 105 screens ($898,228 including previews). In Spain the Clint Eastwood production grossed $1.3 million from 201 screens. The picture also opened in Greece where it grossed $229,000 from 19 screens.
Sideways minted $468,306 from 75 screens in its opening weekend in Germany last weekend. That healthy debut follows impressive runs in the U.K. ($1.9 million in 10 days) and Australia ($1.4 million in 11). Overall the road trip comedy has grossed $4.4 million from 18 markets.
Alexander opened in one of its final markets last weekend leading to an overall gross of $4.2 million from 52 territories for a $120 million total. Opening in Japan, the Oliver Stone epic grossed a disappointing, but still solid, $1.9 million from 261 screens. It wasn't even enough to top The Phantom of the Opera's second weekend.
The Phantom of the Opera drummed up $2.5 million in Japan, slipping a mild 22%, boosting its territory total to $9.6 million. That helped push its international total to $70 million.
White Noise had a solid debut in France last weekend. It grossed $798,132 at 127 dates, ranking at No. 4 in Paris. It was bigger than recent titles like Open Water and Jeepers Creepers 2.
Spanglish kick off its foreign tour in Mexico, grossing a solid $727,009 from 300 screens. The James L. Brooks comedy has Australia and Spain two weeks from now and will roll out over the next two months.
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason continued its run in 20+ territories and opened in Colombia last weekend . There are still 6 territories to open including Japan on March 19. Bridget's international total grew to $202,816,079.
The Incredibles' $700,000 first place opening in its final market, Hong Kong, lifted its total passed E.T.'s $357.8 million to become the 20th biggest international release of all time. The picture grossed $3.2 million over the weekend for a $359 million total.
The Stepford Wives ended its foreign campaign with a solid launch in Japan. The production grossed $154,790 from a limited 32 screens in its opening. Wives had a solid run overseas, grossing $41,812,506. Its $59.5 million domestic total was always out of reach based on the subject matter, which doesn't attract too many Asian or Latin American audiences. Excellent returns in Europe and Australia was the difference maker. Stand-out territories include Australia's $4,540,888, Spain's $3,745,442, and the U.K.'s $7,774,553.

EARLY INTERNATIONAL WEEKEND REPORT
Openings 11 days before the United States premiere, Constantine became a Chinese New Year phenomenon in Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore. Capitalizing on the yearly high week Constantine got out of the gate strong and fast.
In Hong Kong the picture opened to an outstanding five-day gross of $1.56 million (HK$11.8 million), making it the 10th highest opening of all time for a foreign film and the fourth highest opening weekend ever for WB.
In Taiwan, Constantine opened on Wednesday to a nationwide gross of $829,400 (NT$26.4 million) breaking the single day record for any movie released during the Chinese New Year and also outperforming the opening day numbers for all Matrix films. The five-day debut was $2.6 million (NT$1096.5 million).
Despite very strong competition from five local films in South Korea, the comic-book based action/thriller snared a phenomenal $5.53 million (Won 5.7 billion) in six days. In Seoul, the film grossed $2.16 million, making it the third highest opening ever for WB.
In Singapore and Malaysia, the movie opened excellent as well, but nowhere near the other territories. In Singapore, Constantine grossed an estimated $965,600 for the weekend, ranking No. 1. In Malaysia, the film also dominated the market with a gross of $570,700.
Overall Constantine grossed an estimated $11.3 million in its debut international and worldwide weekend.
Ocean's Twelve nabbed an estimated $7.5 million over the weekend for an outstanding total to date of $215.2million. In the U.K. it fell only 37 percent to an estimated $3.95 million from 450 screens to remain in second place. With holidays beginning on Monday, a very strong week is expected. In its fourth weekend in Japan the star-studded caper grabbed $2.2 million from 294 screens for a $26.5 million total. The picture dropped just 10.5% and remained in second place, ahead of the opening of The Bourne Supremacy.
The Bourne Supremacy had its final opening this weekend in Japan. It opened on Friday and grossed an estimated $3.2 million at 386 dates in three days. Comparing it to the opening of The Bourne Identity is tough because that film opened on the traditional Saturday. However, the films grossed about the same for the first Saturday and Sunday. Bourne Supremacy's international total is $104 million

This weekend, it opens in UK, Germany, USA, Philippines, France and Austria. Expect a big weekend gross.
One really really studpid thing ist, though...it opens against Meet the Fockers in Germany. Seriously, the last two weekends, it was wasteland at the German box-office. Heck last weekend was the worst in over four years and this ending one will be even worse. And they still didn't open Meet the Fockers earlier and now it'll go up against

So it came close to films such as Lord of the Rings and Star Wars?! (Not sure what's in their top 10)
Also I found that the Matrix films did almost double what they did in the US. I guess these types of films do better overseas.

OMG, i totall can't believe its opening powers in Asia, outstanding...
It was released in the perfect time of year, Chinese New Year which is normally a very lucrative period.....coupled with the fact that this is the sort of action movie - sci-fi horror movie which translates well in these region......we should've expected huge openings.....
To give you an idea....
* In South Korea it matched the opening of Spiderman 2 and outperformed Harry Potter 3 and Shrek 2
* In Taiwan it's 5-Day opening matched Troy and ranks higher than Mummy Returns and Matrix Revolutions, Spiderman2
* In Hong Kong only Kung Fu Hustle, The Day After Tomorrow, Spiderman 2 and HP3 have higher debuts in the last year.....its opening outgrossed Reloaded, TTT, MIB2, Jurassic Park 3

Wow...that is impressive. I wonder how that will reflect in the US numbers next weekend, but I think we are looking at a $200+ million worldwide grosser. The marketing is really good, I think the TV spots and the trailers are very well-made. Can't wait to see it on Wednesday!

INTERNATIONAL WEEKEND REPORT FEBRUARY 11-13
