It's assumed he's going there to talk about/confirm the sequel (Why else would he go there?), but to play devil's advocate, nothing has been confirmed yet. He's there to offically talk about Superman Returns.

I'd love to be the reporter representing KJ to ask Singer how it feels to have his movie singlehandedly dismantled in 1 weekend by another movie and whether he regrets not finishing up the X-MEN Saga on a higher note and also whether he regrets opening his big mouth about his sexuality and letting that transcend over to one of the most recognized superheroes around?? Then, the sound of silence will have fallen on the crowd..

Then, the sound of silence will have fallen on the crowd.. 1. Thank God your not a reporter. 2. If he does get a "question/rambling" similar to that, he should respond back with the fact the film has made $175 million (At that point) domestically and over $300 million worldwide, despite the fact Superman hasn't appeared in a movie for nineteen years, and despite the fact that it's being beaten by one of the biggest films of all time. And that also people like you have way too much time on their hands to worry about whether he is gay or not. From what I have read he has mentioned the fact he is gay in one interview and that was about how he doesn't like to talk about it. And how exactly did it transcend into the character? Is it because of your ramblings of how Brandon Routh looks more like Superboy, than Superman? You know how that rumor started? It was a joke in a magazine, and then it ballooned all over the internet forums into something that it really isn't. But once again, since this isn't Christopher Reeve's Superman, and since the director is gay, SUPERMAN MUST BE GAY!!!!!! How exactly does that come across as having a big mouth about his sexuality again? Also, has anyone mentioned that little rumor about how Johnny Depp has played Jack Sparrow in just a little feminine tone? Jack Sparrow wears eyeliner and hangs around on a ship with a bunch of guys. He's pretty much the sailor from The Village People. You want to know why that hasn't been mentioned along with the Superman rumor in quite some time, except by a couple of inept people online? Because no one gives a flying fuck. excel wrote: actually its confirmed hes there to talk about "whats next".
To once again play devil's advocate, "what's next" can mean many things.

Bravo, Singer, for your Superman love letter!
Finally got the chance to watch it. What can i say, great flick. A movie with heart and passion, a beautifully conceived epic drama, filled with true, heartfelt emotions (whereas Spiderman is more a teenybopper soap, this feels much more... mature, with grander themes), and appropriately, sprinkled with discreet, but effective humor (no Raimi campyness). All actors filled their roles very well and made them believable. The action is not too shabby as well (awesome plane sequence).
Really a shame a shallow action comedy (Pirates 2) will gross twice the amount Superman will manage. Damn mob.
Here's hoping for a sequel - soon.
EDIT:
The soundtrack is a blast! (not just the Williams bits)

Lol, quite expected.
Not that I've seen it, it's not out, but seriously, I knew you'd love it (I believe I called that some months ago, heh).

I don't like the way you're insinuating my love for it being a given, that i've already decided to love it before even seeing it.
Look, i'm no Superman or Singer fanboy, i'm not even a comic reader, but i'm all for a good comic book adaptation and early word suggested a very good one. If it would have turned out to be a letdown, i would have said so. But - luckily for me - it wasn't a letdown.
I defended Superman on these boards and spoke favorably of it on a few occasions, which could be misinterpreted as me having a bias, but i just wanted to pose a counterbalance to all the (unjustified) negativity that was thrown at it. Unlike some others, i gave the movie a chance.

That's WB Damage Control and trying to keep things on a positive level by mentioning the word "Sequel" in attampt to make SR look like it was successful when in fact, it hardly was.. I just don't think there's any interest in this character in today's world and that alone must be very hard to swallow for the SR Fanboys and their inability to comprehend this.. We don't need Superman, we have SPIDERMAN for that.. But Hey, there's always Jack Black as Green Lantern like WB has planned..
I have to agree with BKB here. Society can easily identify with Spiderman. Unlike Superman, Spiderman is a human being with many weeknesses. He has many of the same problems that we have today. He has to balance his social life, school work, and of course be a superhero on a day-to-day basis. He has the same emotions; he has to choose the one he loves or his responsibility to society. I could go on and on but the point is that society can identify with Spiderman and Peter Parker. However, the same is not true of Superman. Sorry, but the story is incredibly shallow. Even when you think about the original two Superman movies, the story wa kind of shallow. The same emotions and connection that the audience is able to feel with Spiderman just isn't there with Superman. Superman has such few weaknesses that it's just impossible to connect with the hero. Today's audiences don't want an invincible hero, they would rather have a hero with many flaws and weaknesses that overcomes his weaknesses. That's why I really doubt any Superman movie will ever be much of a big movie. Audiences have Batman and Spiderman. There's no room for Superman, not unless Superman's character is completely changed, which of course will never happen.

Similar dilemmas plague Superman, and (almost) all the other superheros for that matter. In fact, Superman - being the first superhero - created that superhero template. Superman is not shallow, he just doesn't appeal to teenagers as much as Spiderman does for obvious reasons.

So will I and I never said you're a Superman or a Singer fanboy. Yet the way you spoke of the movie prior to its release and the way you perceived its trailers etc. etc. led me to believe that you'd like the movie with absolute certainty.
I was right.
It's not like you consciously planned on giving it a good review no matter what, I don't believe that. I do think, however, that certain expectations and certain perception of things can influence our liking of them even before we experience them. It doesn't always happen. I mean, last year I was pretty much negatively predisposed to King Kong, yet it ended up as my #1 of the year, but it does happen. On a subconscious level even. The likelihood of it happening is higher than of it not happening generally.
I'm glad you enjoyed the film, though. It is better to llike the movie you anticipate (even IF some of the liking is predetermined) than to be sorely disappointed (that's when high anticipation would backfire).

Open your eyes fanboy.. Routh has been asked to pose for the cover of PLAYGIRL.. No kidding and not only that, but supposedly he really sucked up hard(pardon the pun) to Singer while trying to secure this role.. Let's face it: No more spinning this.. Bryan Singer's intentions may have been noble in wanting to realize his dream in making one of these movie's, but for the Love of God, he took all the Goddamn testosterone out of this character and replaced it with a Vagina that really made me want to punch a kitten and all cause Singer was molding his own life into this character and decided to throw his sexuality out in the public which further destroyed this movie as bad as when Howard Dean let out that Primal scream and ruined any chance he had at becoming President.. What's next?? What's next is that Bryan Singer take a year or so off and let this blow over, not blow Routh, BLOW OVER.. Then, he should crawl back to FOX and beg them to let him make X4 and right the wrong once again with the fans so he can sleep better at night knowing he put all this behind him..

I think if sups drops 36% to 7.8m this weekend it would have a shot a 200m. it would have 170m before the weekend and 178m after, only 22m to go

Maybe if it were to increase instead of decrease 1,000 theaters it could get a 30% drop this weekend.

On it's fifth week, X-Men 3 shaved it's number to about 2,800 theaters, it started at 3,700ish. Superman started at 4,000 and lost 300 last week, so it's about 3,700 now... meaning it is very possible that Superman Returns will lose upwards of 1,000 this week.
