So according to DHD Mufasa and Sonic are both tracking at $50M+ OWs.

Even if its falling off a cliff Disney hasn't even really ramped up its campaign on it yet so I don't know yet where it will end up.

I think $150m is a formality fior Mufasa. It would have to open sub $20m and be really hated to go sub 150m. Even as a disappointment it will get to about $220-250m and lose out to Sonic which will gross a bit more.

I’m hoping it can do 300 due to lack of competition, and if sonic does 300+ we have a good shot to pass next year

Feels overshadowed by Wicked and Moana.

I'd say it's mainly because the project feels devoid of creativity. Wicked was released a whole month prior to Mufasa, and Moana 2 three weeks prior so the overshadowing won't be a huge factor in Mufasa's performance, whatever that may be. But Sonic 3 obviously won't help.

But this club is still way to low.

Based on pre-sales so far, Empire is seeing close to $80M-90M for Sonic OW based on other comparables this year. Potential $700M+ worldwide.

Would be something to see Sonic pull a Meet The Fockers type increase from its predecessor with the Christmas holiday. If it pulled a $90M OW I'd have a hard time seeing it not make a run for $300M.

Good for it. A Sonic movie deserves to be bigger than they have been so far.

My kids love the Sonic movies and so do their friends. It will be huge.

If anything - great to see Paramount have success woth the franchise considering they listened to auds about the initial Sonic design.

First 2 Alvin and the Chipmunk movies made an absurd amount in the slot Sonic is in. It would be shameful if it couldn’t ride that advantage to a bigger gross

Sonic needs to get to $262M to become Jim Carrey's biggest unadjusted film of his career domestic. Certainly possible given the holidays. Would be something to see Denzel and Carrey pull off their biggest career films.

based on how Mufasa presales are going, I think this thread has some life. Unless it pulls in a Migration/Puss in the boots kind of run, it could miss 150m with 30m OW.

Korea OD - just under 45k admits. Looking at 80% drop from last movie.
Paris 2PM - 1746 admits. Local folks are saying 80-90K admits for OD. TLK opened to 630K OD. Of course release dates are different and so we have to wait for WOM/OW BO to extrapolate. But big drop is locked.
Australia - 1m wed. Charlie is saying 4.5-5m OW. TLK did 4.3m OD and 20.5m OW.

I think I might just miss in the end.

Alot of marketing here in Oz. Billboard advertising to ridiculous levels yet not that much buzz I fee. Granted - the next 6 weeks are the strongest of the year here (Christmas and summer holidays) so legs will be solid.

Even with a $35M OW I can't see this club happening but it's total domestic gross is going to be embarrasing regardless for a $200M+ budgeted film with a predecessor that now adjusts to $243M?$650M.

It needed sub 30 for this club to have a chance.
