Re: The Little Mermaid weekend thread
Thinking 35m Saturday and Sunday either stays flat or drops no more than 10% for 31-35m, for 104-108m OW.

Re: The Little Mermaid weekend thread
its skewed to big markets that could limit its saturday increases. Presales are not up that much and ATP is lower on saturday. Its likely to increase less than Aladdin.

Re: The Little Mermaid weekend thread
Looks like Fast X will have a 66-67% drop. About as expected. Hoped the better WOM and smaller opening would help it drop in the low 60s

Mario still dropping that low against TLM is pretty crazy. And Guardians had a good drop too.

-36% for Guardians! Excellent. Should pass the first one now and might even make a run at $350M.
Mermaid is fine... Not a breakout or a bomb ... Quite boring really after years and years of hearing people argue about it.

Re: The Little Mermaid weekend thread
Decent number for The Machine considering how niche it is. Probably will have crazy low legs though, maybe not even ten million total. Still better than About My Father which is just a flop.

Re: The Little Mermaid weekend thread
I think if this was precovid (and people weren't trained to just wait to watch it for "free"....) this would've opened higher but as is this is a good opening.

Re: The Little Mermaid weekend thread
I think the performances of Beauty the Beast and the Lion King were the pinnacle of the Live-Action remake era of Disney in terms of box office performance, and now it has fallen back to earth, but we have all been spoiled along the way unfortunately. This is still a hit, just not an unparalleled one like Disney of the late 2010s.

It’s the god damn algorithm. Pushes trash/hate videos 1000 x’s more than others and so channels are incentivized to keep making them. Fucking YouTube

Re: The Little Mermaid weekend thread
Funny enough, during the Trump era, Disney was the unmatched kings of the the box office. I am not sure we will ever again see such box office dominance by one studio.

Re: The Little Mermaid weekend thread
Charlie is saying 29m+ for saturday. Weak increase and I am not surprised considering its playing well in markets that have limited saturday increase potential. its missing 100m for sure.

Well, that's because they had key brands and franchises at their peak and before the notable quality drop. It was true dominance. Part of it was squandered and part of it just came to a natural conclusion and there was no way but down. Marvel: The epic Infinity Saga was coming to it's conclusion - most anticipated saga ending since ROTJ or ROTK. Black Panther also engaged a key demographic like nothing before it. Animation: Sequels to some of their biggest hits - Frozen, Toy Story, Incredibles + the new found glory of the animation studio following Zootopia. Live Action Remakes: the biggies came out during this period BatB, TLK and Aladdin. Star Wars: 2 sequels + 2 spinoffs - though on the decline they did live off the spectacular success of TFA

zwackerm wrote: Looks like it will miss 600m WW Really? That would be very dissapointing. This was supposed to be Disney's biggest tentpole of the year. Does not look good for Snow White, that will probably make less.

Sub $350m DOM too. Honestly thinking $300m might be in question.

Re: The Little Mermaid weekend thread
It’s guaranteed to finish below 300m with this opening. It only had a 2.55x weekend multiple compared to Aladdin’s 3x. I don’t see it’s future legs compensating
