Golly...I wonder how much it would have made if Star Wars hadn't lost a good portion of it's fanbase?

Meh, I bet that number is fabricated for news agencies. $50m sure sound better then actual actual which is $24,416,301.

The real actual is probably 49.7 or something and the studio will subtract that 0.3 from Friday's gross.
Anyway, that's a fantastic number for Sith and way over my expectations (congrats to those who called it).
I saw the film today and have to say that it deserves the success it's getting.

I expect it to be revised down below 50 eventually.

1 STAR WARS: EPISODE III - REVENGE OF THE SITH $50,013,859 -- / $13,661 $50,013,859

Just an outstanding number. Congrats to a deserving movie.

As no one else has mentioned this, I guess I will have to ask.

Was the above number rounded up over 50 M - as it went over by just 13,859?

What will the actuals be?

I wonder who or which show actually got it over 50M. Consider the movie made a tiny $13,859 over, that should be one of the last showings in the country last night. Probably one of theaters in Hawaii or Alaska. Maybe BJ will know. :)

That's an increadible number, epecially considering most kids were in school during the day yesterday, and also taking into account that over 45 million people were sitting at home last night at 9pm watching the season finales of CSI and The Apprentice.

Imagine what number it can pull on Saturday when kida are out of school, many are off work, and there is less distraction from television

Attack of the clones opened with 30 million including previews, and then grossed 31 million on Saturday.
Does this mean we could be looking at a 50 million Saturday? If so

And finally, a quick question.. for all those shows past 12 a.m tonight, are they going to count towards Friday's boxoffice, or Saturdays? Cause if it's Saturdays, that's going to inflate the number...

It probably was Lucas' home cinema and he chipped in 13,860 for his single ticket

It's the only movie to get $50 million in one day, Spider-Man.

HOLY CRAP! That's fantastic for Star Wars. What an amazing opening day- it deserved to break the opening day record. Today will be huge too, I'm sure. I cannot wait for the weekend numbers on Sunday- $100 million and up is an ABSOUTE given. It now has a very good chance to break the largest opening weekend record.

Hmmm, I expected bigger numbers for Star Wars - so it won't reach 400m and it might will struggle to reach 300m. Today's drop will be big... maybe something like -40%... :-k

You have got to be joking. Anyone that is even remotely close to being disappointed with $50m needs to be committed.

Hmmm, no, I'm not joking... I expected it to open with about 54-55m... and also Yahoo Numbers indicated a bigger opening!

50m - 17m (Previews) = 33m

Sorry, but I AM disappointed... :???:

It could struggle to reach 150m for the 4-day weekend and 350m for the total...
