How can you state that as fact, as if you personally know, though? Because a few people on the Internet didn't like it meant it had bad word-of-mouth? I'm not saying the sequel to The Grudge will even do well, but it's not like The Grudge had enormous declines every week or something.

Yeah, it almost got a 3.0 multiplier, and though it had Halloween weekend two, it also had the 18 million weekend of Saw to compete with. I bet it'd still clear 100 million if it got another solid ad campaign and the same release date, though probably not do quite as well as the first.

The Grudge didn't have terrible WOM. Even the weekend after Halloween, it dropped 40%. It achieved almost a 3.0x multiplier. The second one probably won't make $100M, but I think a good total would be in order.

The Grudge had bad WOM but not the STAY AWAY FROM THIS wom that The Village and The Ring Two got. The Grudge was actually a horror movie (a bad one), while Village and Ring Two were dramas with scares thrown in. Scares over quality seems to be in these days.
