I agree with Killuminati510. This was the last of BP nominees to open. Missed the lucrative period of mid December to early January. Opened wide to 12M. It is still at 8M. It does have great WOM. It will get to 100M. Till it won BP, I thought it might end up with 85M. This is a serious drama and not a special effects filled blockbuster.
Schindler's list had great WOM, but still grossed only 96M owing to its serious subject matter. SPR had more action and hence the higher gross.

MDB was not the last BP nominee to open. It opened in limited release on Dec 15 two days before The Aviator opened. The Aviator was in limited release for one week before going wide on Dec 25. MDB expanded gradually through Jan before going wide at the end of Jan.
