While I'm not a fan of watching ANY movies during the day (I'm a night person), it's not that bad watching a horror movie during the day. I saw The Grudge in the afternoon, and it didn't make a big difference, since it was still sold out and it was still dark inside the theater. Cursed will be no where close to selling out during the day, though. We'll see how it holds up during the night.

ALERT!

At my theatre, Diary of a Mad Black Woman has sold out the 7:00, 7:45, 8:30 and 10:00 shows already.

We're going to see some shocked reactions tomorrow morning.

My final prediction is $16.7M, or a $11,161 PTA.

Cursed
3:15 PM
4 people in a 271 seater

Trailers:

Sin City
The Amityville Horror

Movie:

No wonder they didn't screen it to the press. This movie is laughable and bad. Boogeyman was better than this. What is Craig Kilborn doing here?

I'll cry if Cursed turns out to be worse than Boogeyman. CRY.

It's not that bad. At least you can stare at Christina Ricci for 90 minutes -- and count the horror legends in the wax figure club (I noticed Wolfman, Frankenstein, Vampira, Pinhead, Freddy, and Jason; fill me in on the ones I missed! ;))

Lower your expectations and you might do ok

BTW the Amityville Horror trailer looked pretty good.

I lowered my expectations since the day it became PG-13, and even further since I saw Boogeyman.

Dracula's coffin and the 50th anniversary silver head (at least that is what the Tinsel dude in the movie called those)

At least the Jimmy's tormentor/friend was funny when he came to the door

Eeeeek, from Crowd Reports: Cursed will do like $11M this weekend.

But from YAHOO MOVIE ratings: Cursed will do like $16M+ this weekend.

GAH! i don't know what to predict! I'm just gonna close my eyes until tomorrow!

Don't base it on the crowd reports in my place. Daytime shows and very late shows here are poorly attended.

The sad state of the comedy genre rears it's ugly head once more, as a desperate audience flocks to whatever they can find to get their fix. I'm betting it's not worth paying to see, and probably not worth seeing at all.

I think you've totally misinterpreted everything. The largely underserved black audience is flocking to it because they are hardly ever given movies like Diary, and it's based on a smashingly successful play.

A lot more than that. Woman, Thou Art Loosed had a weekend PTA of $5,699. This is going to blow past it.

Lots of crappy movies are based off of something that was successful in another medium, but I'm still betting it sucks, and is just another comedy for the garbage heap. Do you believe Diary has any more comedic value than Undercover Brother did? A big flashing neon sign is telling me to expect something as awful as that.

Undercover Brother was more of a Satire

THe management of that theatre must have put the movie in too small a room. I'm assuming you don't know how many seats those sell-outs are in. THere's only one sell-out here in NYC, where the original run of the play sold-out every show for weeks. I honestly expect this movie to do very well tonight and then have a very low internal mult between the rush-outs and Oscars on Sunday...and the fact that the movie is really bad. I could see a potential $11 million opening this weekend if it does sell-ou a lot tonight but it will crash and burn after that.

Black people don't watch the Oscars.

I called the theatre manager and asked. Every single screen of Diary of a Mad Black Woman was on one of their 500-seaters.
