Looks like shit.
Probably because Paramount is behind it. Yup I seriously dont know where people are coming out with these 50 million dollar numbers especially for a low brow comedy and its opening against the 2nd week of SW Bruce Almighty opened a week after Reloaded remember 8) We didnt expect it to do 85m in days then, i dont think 50m 3-day is unrealistic at all.
The only difference: Bruce Almighty looked funny.

It's all a matter of opinion. And it's not like we're saying it'll open to 70/85 million, we're just saying it'll open at 50/70 million.

Actually
Adam Sandler = $$$$$
Paramount = -$$
Chris Rock = $
(Even though he is an annoying shit)
Bad Trailer = -$$$
So
$$$$$-$$+$-$$$=$
$ = big opening, shitty legs.
Bet you anything in the world the movie will crash and burn.
Atleast on a sub-150m dollar level

In seeing the trailer, I think that Adam Sandler is a bit out of place in this movie - maybe I remember Burt Reynold's The Longest Yard too fondly. As I saw it on cable and not the movies, I don't know how dominant it was when it was out but it was just a great movie. Sandler just seems too flip in this movie. I glad they gave Reynold's a role - more than I care to see him in the Dukes movie.
That said, it will still be a great hit but people should rent the older version to see it once.

Yes, but Jim Carrey in a good ol' fashioned comedy is a bigger draw than Adam Sandler (IMO). Plus I think Bruce Almighty had more appeal to a borader range of people. Let's also not forget that the WOM on Reloaded sucked huge. You could also factor in that many under17 teens would buy a ticket for BA to get into Reloaded, which does happen quite a lot.
Regardless, I think TLY will have a 38/52/125 run.

Whoa, this looks bad. No way it's making more or the same as Mr.Deed, 50 First Dates, and Anger Management
Opening - 35
Final - 105
I dont even think it'll make that much - but i'll just stay on the safe side.

Factors that will make or break SW3 are different than for this film, and I doubt their demographics (SW3 being ALL demos ) will clash too much Plus, remember Shrek 2 and TDAT and the good $140m between them Hm, suppose we go with $40m, in the same area as that other Sandler football film, Waterboy.
Normally, I would agree with this theory, but this is the Final SW film and it is the film that branches EPISODE III into EPISODE IV and I just think SW is gonna dominate everything for several weeks after it's release and Longest Yard will get the shortend of the stick on this...

I see three films over 50m and two of them being over 60m, 50m range for the longest yard 60m-70m for madagascar unless it can pull a shrek 2, I think if it did pull a shrek 2 than a wknd in the 80m-90m range would be the range to put the film in. And Last is star wars I still have my hopes for this film it would be cool to see two strai wknds over 100m but Im going to place it in the 60m-65m range. Clearly these three movies will rack in over 70%-80% of the gross of the top 100 films out over Memorial Day wknd.

And before you guys get into competition, it's MONTHS until the summer, I can all but guarantee that either Madagascar or The Longest Yard will move.

Madagascar won't move. That's the perfect release date for both movies. And, like box said on the first page, having three big movies in one weekend is really no big deal. I mean, The Day After Tomorrow and Shrek 2 both made up over $160 million of that long weekend. That's just two movies. I think there is enough market for all three. The spot is just soo good, no one wants to move.

yeah if the rest of the top twelve that wknd does good the three day could be the first to pass 300m

That's true, and I suppose both cater to different audiences even if they are both comedies.

I think this movie looks stunningly bad.
I usually even like a lot of Adam Sandler's movies, too.

Maybe this is an anti-chick-flick type film?

I've been seeing lots and lots of trailers for this on TV. I sense a big summer comedy.

I think this is going to get lost in the shuffle of SITH and not do to well.. Richard Roeper panned it on Howard Stern's Radio Show and ironically, there having a Premiere of it in my town of St.Louis with Burt Reynolds coming along with Chris Rock.. I think it's because one of the stars is a native of St.Louis, some guy named Nelly and it's a Charity Benefit..
