Corpse, what is the expectation for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 when it is released on 19th August? Being that it's from Sega and they're Japanese, but it's U.S.-made, is it likely to flop like the first did?

Corpse is on holidays.

The first one made ¥171M back in 2020, so I have little hope on Sonic 2 like ¥300M or so...

I wasn't sure if the first was interrupted by the pandemic or not, so I thought the sequel might do better, but I feel ¥300M would still be disappointing.

Oh, yeah the pandemic, since it's called CoVid-19. I thought it's 2019 for pandemic... Forget it. Cinema were closed from Week 13-19, with restrictions lifting slowly from Week 20

Breakdown the first one

Release date - 26 June 2020

Sonic the Hedgehog seemed to open in week 26 or 27 as per Mojo, but it still performed badly. I wonder if the pandemic lingered longer for kids movies/family outings. I guess I'm trying to find a reason why it did so poorly and in turn why the second might dramatically increase, lol.

Kingdom 2 and Minions 2 both opening this weekend probably dealt a heavy blow to all the other movies. Even Top Gun fell over 40%.

Well actually there is an error in mimorin, it is only reporting numbers from 170-175 theatres. Not the usual 270 theatres.

Take that for example. The first number is the ranking position. Then the ticket sales. The last numbers is a percentage compared to last week.

What is the 36,600, 286 and 174?

I see but the theatre count listed for Friday was also about 170 so it's no different?

Most the movies yesterday say 170ish too.

But then Mimorin does mention some kind of error so I don't really know what I'm missing here.

Blogger posted that the system hasn't been able to track AEON since the 12, so that's not just a yesterday or friday problem. Sounds like blogger won't be able to fix it for a while so just don't trust mimorin too much for now.

Aeon is about 25% of the market iirc so just use 45% instead of 70% for your estimates based on these numbers.
