Temptation did indeed receive an A- and The Host a B-.

Evil Dead - B

They probably won't poll Jurassic Park. Would be pointless.

Not to mention most people seeing it are already big fans. If it were polled it would get somewhere in the A range. But I really don't think they'll poll it.

It's been out for 20 years. I'm sure people will only judge the 3D aspect of it, which I suspect to be shit.

JP is being released in substantial 2D screens as per the initial plan. Also regardless of 3D aspect people are going to see this as they are fans of the movie. Its not going to get C- even if 3D is bad, fans would still love it. Consider BTTH re-releasing in 3D would you rate the movie bad even if 3D is just satisfactory and does not enhance your movie experience (BTW even if you would do that I am sure most of the people wouldn't).

Well, I haven't even seen BTTH yet, and it was only released 2 months ago. Why not try another example that I would have seen, maybe The Terminator...

..in which I may rate it lower than my normal grade, sure, because I believe there's no need to rerelease it in 3D, for example.

Most people seeing it will not be seeing it because it's in 3D. It's because they love the film and want to see it again on the big screen, or for the first time.

Sure, I understand that, but when they see that 3D adds nothing, and that really they've just wasted $15 to see a movie they have on VHS or DVD anyway, they might rate it lower than their "OMG, I love Jurassic Park" normal grade of an "A".

If they released Scream in 3D, I'd still give it an A+ if I were polled because I love the film, even if the 3D added nothing :P. AND I own the series on Blu-ray.

You say that like one's sexual orientation doesn't affect one's movie preferences when it totally does. It affects mine fo sho

Since we are off-topic already...

here's just an observation I have made over years.I know quite a few gay folks online (maily WOKJ) and a couple in real life. And it seems like most of them are huge horror film fans. Even one of the two organizers of the yearly Fantasy Film Festival in Germany is gay and the same organizers also hold a yearly Gay/Lesbian Movie festival that plays in the same cities as the Fantasy Film Festival.

Just an observation...

I don't really think I love horror movies because I'm gay though. But regardless that wasn't even even what I was getting at. I don't think I'd rate a movie differently with CinemaScore because I'm gay :P.

Surprised. If anything, I'd think being gay would turn such people away from horror movies. I don't think I'd like them as much if I were gay.

There are a lot of gay horror fans. For one, I think feeling like an outcast plays into it. There are tons of female horror fans too. Working at the video store I encountered a lot of them. It's also why the majority of an audience that shows up for a horror film skews slightly female. Most of my female friends love them.

Intuitively I probably would have been surprised a while back, but I have made this observation over and over and over, so no, at this point it seems fairly common to me.

There are a lot of gay horror fans.

Doesn't make sense to me, really for the reasons already explained.

Evil Dead received a "C+" CinemaScore rating, slightly better than the "C" Cabin in the Woods received. That film had surprisingly good legs. The reviews and WOM from those who did love it helped drown out the ones who didn't. Hopefully legs will be decent (by horror standards) for Evil Dead.

Gays and females like horrors. Not surprised at all. Gays will try and do anything to make them appear more female.

The vast majority of girls I know (and due to studying Psycology where the females share is at 85-90% I know many) hate horror films and refuse to watch them. In fact, I only have one female friend who's really into horror films.
