Not to look all anti-Superman or anything but its mostly the norm where movies have positive reviews start popping up till the mixed ones get in. They did the samething for WOTW where some of the critics were saying it had alot of heart and was one of Spielberg's best since ET. But later on when it was shown to public on the midnight screenings, the word was mixed and there were alot of mixed reviews coming in for the movie. Im not saying SR will be as mixed as WOTW but generally positive reviews are leaked to the public first. I still expect the movie to finish about 70% at RT, maybe even low 80s. But at least its good to know Singer did a good job so in case if the movie does bad, it would be the TW that would be to blame
Funny how I just said in another thread this same thing, that WB will do everything in there Power to sell this movie by posting as many positive reviews from Hyperbolic fans to sell this, that don't actually review the movie and I'm labeled Stupid for it.. Give an actual REVIEW of this and will discuss it further..

By the way, I'm not completley sold on the reviews yet. Boston Herald, sure. But bluetights.com, supermanhomepage.com, comicbookresources.com, they're fan websites. Of course they're going to rave the movie, no doubt about it. It's not like a Superman fansite will trash all over the movie, heh.

In other news, I was just inagurated as the next Emperor of China.
How interesting. In related news. I am now Chancellor of Germany.

SR reminds me of King Kong. It will get big press hype, but more or less be a pretender compared to the lofty expectations the media has setup for it.
Still, it should reach around $285 million, but even so, that puts it $95 million off Sith.

Good to know it's probably a great movie though. Dont expect many negatives reviews this early though, first off I dont think people are even allowed to post reviews yet and second critics dont wanna be banned from these early screenings by posting negative reviews, they'll wait when it comes closer to release.

yup like I said earlier and Killumanti said just now, dont expect bad reviews to kick in till its release dayy. There wont be many bad reviews but it will be how WOTW and Kong played out earlier with all the glowing reviews flooding out so early to build buzz, remember how all the Kong reviews had the critics saying it will beat out Titanic. Its nothing out of the ordinary
Still it will end up with 70% and more of the critics liking it

Ok Superman fans, I'd like to do a Superman related box office article leading up to the film's release on my blog. What aspect would you like me to focus on?

How its fanbase alone won't push Superman over $200 million.

I'm not hating on Superman. I'm actually a fan of the first two movies, and used to be of the comics. I'm just pointing out that fanbase along won't push Superman's BO over $200 million, because that didn't happen with Batman, another reset to a dead movie franchise.

frankly i dont know what this tells you about the movie, as you can say the exact same thing superman the movie, spiderman 1 and 2.
Both Joblo.com and The Hot Button seem to be hearing nearly identical things:
Dave Poland:
"Wells fails to mention that the IMAX preview, which will only be on IMAX screens, still has no sound and has other unfinsihed issues. There was some degree of shock amongst the media on hand about how unfinished the footage was this close to day-n-date release.
And of course, keep in mind that Wells hated Pirates 1, not even sitting through the whole film, and that was the highest grossing film of that year.
Word I am getting on Superman, which I did not see because I am in Seattle, is pretty mixed. "Too long" and "too short on geek content" are the two big complaints, followed by the comical miscasting of Kate Bosworth as a Pulitzer winner with a 6 year old child. The argument is that there is a lot of standing around posing and recalling Brando and the section, as a for instance, of him in space cruising Krypton was cut. This is not to say that the movie was reviled. I have heard none of that. No haters. But Jeffrey is, from what I gather, the biggest romancer the film has. Perhaps he pictures himself in tights and better hair.
In any case, I will go into the movie next week with open expectations and see how it goes. I hope it's great. Regardless, there is little chance that it will beat Pirates 2 this summer, which has a much wider base of established fans and a much wider attaction to under 10s and over 40s."

pirates came in a distant 3rd in 03, not first.
the fanbase comments are retarded, flat out. superman has way more appeal tot he 10-under crowd then pirates, but pirates gets the teens. adult appeal is equal i would say. but superman easily has the more "established" fanbase. hes 70 years old whilepirates is 3.
