I don't mind Batman Forever. I love Tommy Lee Jones and especially Jim Carrey in it. It's good fun. I've always thought it would be better regarded if, say, Schumacher had abruptly quit the franchise, and it had lain dormant until Batman Begins. Leading into Batman & Robin has retroactively tainted Forever in many respects.

Carrey was a great campy Riddler, but I'm still waiting on them to give us a darker version of the character along the lines of the Animated Series version.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of Tickets Now on S
The scenes with Catwoman and Max Shrek in Batman Returns had a very F.W. Murnau quality and were possibly the best part of the Batman series including Nolan's films. However, even though Devito did a very good job and the Penquin might be my favorite Batman villain, the Penquin storyline was so aburd and arbitrary it dragged the overall film down significantly. I spent all the Penquin scenes waiting for Michelle Pfeiffer or Christopher Walker to return and bring the film back to its true glory. The film did not have good WOM among people I knew. I saw it the first Sunday after hearing it was pretty bad from people that saw it Friday and Saturday.

Batman Returns is possibly my favorite, ahead of The Dark Knight.

Hey now, without that era and its missteps, would WB had taken a chance on the idea of a "realistic" Batman? It is probably partially to thank for Nolan's series becoming a reality.

But I would have preferred to see Burton's dark, gothic version continue. Even if it meant Burton only producing rather than directing, if he had more control over it we would have ended up better off.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of Tickets Now on S
Quote: All measures for "The Dark Knight Rises," which will hit theaters July 20, were huge, according to people who have seen the confidential data. The percentage of people in the U.S. and Canada who said they were "definitely interested" in seeing the Batman movie, or listed it as their "first choice" among upcoming releases, was virtually identical to the percentage for "Avengers" three weeks before its debut -- at 64% and 22%, respectively.
When "first choice" is sliced by demographic category, "The Dark Knight Rises" is stronger among men, while "The Avengers" was initially generating more excitement among women.
The only category in which "The Dark Knight Rises" lagged significantly behind "Avengers" is that of "unaided awareness" -- the percentage of people who could list it as an upcoming release without any prompting. The figure for the third Batman movie is 8%, compared with 13% for Avengers at the same point in time.
However, "Avengers" was the first tentpole release of the summer season, and there were no movies nearly as big opening in the three weeks before it. Prior to "The Dark Knight Rises" are such highly anticipated pictures as"The Amazing Spider-Man"and"Ice Age: Continental Drift."The big advertising campaigns for those pictures make it a little tougher for Warner Bros. to get moviegoers' attention More: http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/en ... 0493.story

Very good, very good indeed, its tracking well ahead of TDK at this point, will crush TA in the end.

I remember "tracking" saying TDK was on pace with Iron Man back in 2008. Lol Indeed, I had some of the tracking data from 08 saved, will have to search for it. TDKRs unaided awareness is encouraging, TDKs exploded about 4 days before release, I expect the same for TDKR. These statistics are monstrous, TDKR is beating TDK by at least 5% in Definite Interest and First Choice at this point. I imagine the same can be said for Total Awareness as well.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of Tickets Now on S
TA had a lot of hype but it was not on the internet compared to TDKR..
So imo a lot of people were interested in it but wanted to know how the film was... Opening a week early overseas did wonders, with people all over the world liking the film + great reviews really made a lot of people interested to see it in the last week before opening.
Imo the factor that really help a film breakout is good wom.
The good wom for THG really drew in a lot of extra attention in the last few days. A lot of casual audiences and guys checked the film out to see what its about.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of Tickets Now on S
Unaided Awareness
The Avengers – 13%
The Hunger Games – 11%
The Dark Knight – 10%
Total Awareness
The Avengers – 85%
The Dark Knight – 76%
The Hunger Games – 74%
Definite Interest
The Dark Knight – 62%
The Avengers – 61%
The Hunger Games – 54%
Statistics 3 weeks out, all three went up over time, TA eventually got to 98% in Total Awareness, 97% for TDK and 91% or 92% for The Hunger Games.

So it's tracking worse than Avengers. Bat loonies, please explain to the rational folks here how in the world it's going to magically make more money than Avengers on its opening weekend when it's tracking behind Avengers and it doesn't have 3D.

Well as I said before TA hype was stronger then people give it credit for.
Its just that some think if something is not on the internet it does not exist.
Even so I think TDKR hype is much stronger then TA or that it is far more intense.

I actually find it quite worrying that it is not tracking better than Avengers. At the beginning of the year, TDKR was seen as the sure contender for biggest film of the year.

You would be surprised to see how much better Spider-Man 3 tracked than TDK, that didn't change the end result, the time of year must be considered as well. The first week of May notoriously has the best tracking among mega blockbuster openings.
