 Re: Super Mario weekend
Welll they tried to turn Super Mario into blade runner. That being said Hoskins interpretation was better than Pratt’s, but easily o e of the ugliest looking misfires of all time with no concept of Mario’s demographic. I did like the rocket boots though!

 Re: Super Mario weekend
Why ouch for 50% drop. That is excellent. Still on target for high 400s at minimum. That is great.

 Re: Super Mario weekend
$250,958,695 after 8 days! $500M+ feels good now. The high end really is anyone's guess. 5X multiplier from opening weekend = $790.2M 4X multiplier from opening weekend = $643.9M 3X multiplier from opening weekend = $497.2M

Quote: https://deadline.com/2023/04/box-office ... 235325394/Five wide releases hit theaters this weekend, but Illumination and Universal’s Super Mario Bros. Movie will reign supreme with a second weekend, -60% of $58M. Already the plumbers have plunged a running stateside total through nine days of $260M, with $300M+ this weekend in sight. Super Mario Bros grossed $9.4M yesterday at 4,343 locations, -13% from Wednesday’s $10.7M. WoW! Deadline’s thinking 60% drop for Mario[/quote]

 Re: Super Mario weekend
Mario should gross somewhere in low 70s this weekend. If it follows Sonic 2 last year, it will gross almost 80m but being a bigger movie I expect it to not increase that much. Its definitely not making 58m for sure.

 Re: Super Mario weekend
The drop will be bigger than hoped (it was Easter last week and Good Friday is more inflated than Easter Sunday is deflated) but I also think $58m is too low. $64–67m sounds a little right.
Plus 2nd weekend drops have been big for most films this year.
