Re: China Box Office (TDKR & TASM - 8/27)
Opening day (Tues) for Wreck-It Ralph: ¥2.8m ($448,373)
Pretty disappointing. Brave also performed badly back in the Summer with a ¥2.1m ($336,280) opening day (also a Tuesday). Don't expect good grosses for WIR.

Dr. Lecter wrote: Would you understand if there weren't any? No, because the time listing sheet for the cinema said there were. Also, if there weren't any, it would be weird, because most of China wouldn't be able to understand the movie as it's in Cantonese, and most of China do not understand Cantonese, so no, I wouldn't understand at all.

Rise of the Guardians isn't do much business. Life of Pi is out today, and expect that to do much better because a) it's directed by Ang Lee and b) it actually looks good.

Re: China Box Office (Life of Pi, 1942)
Life of Pi is killing it in China, up 60% to 170m yuan ($27.3m) the second week, even with Feng Xiaogang's latest film Back to 1942 releasing. The total for Pi is up to $44.3m now.

Re: China Box Office (Life of Pi, Back to 1942)
Another 163m ($26.08m) week for Life of Pi, down only 4% from the previous week. It's having Avatar type of legs here. The total now stands at $70m. $100m looks certain.

Re: China Box Office (Life of Pi, Back to 1942)
I'm asking the China experts: Could JURASSIC PARK 3D become another TITANIC 3D or would a result like 2012 3D be just fine?

Re: China Box Office (Life of Pi, Back to 1942)
When is it coming out? There's no sign of it on mtime up until March..
It's hard to say how Jurassic Park 3D will perform because there's no data on how it performed in its original release. I'd say that performing like 2012 3D would be fine. It's a re-release and so it's cost nothing to be put out there.

Re: China Box Office (Life of Pi, Back to 1942)
It certainly won't being another Titanic 3D. Titanic is very much a special case in China. I don't see the same nostalgic feeling to re-visit Jurassic Park.
