Post Biggest Horror Film of the Summer (2025)
This an unusually solid summer for horror. We could see 2-3 $100m+ grossers from this crop.

Before FD opens this weekend - which of these will be the biggest of the summer in terms of total domestic gross? See Poll.

Rank them (OW and Total).

I think 28 Years Later and Final Destination are the biggest while Weapons is the surprising hit. M3gan 2 swings and misses with its semi genre change and people don't like the movie, and I Know What You Did Last Summer doesn't recreate the FD revival. Bring Her Back joins the meh performing horrors from this year and nobody cares about Pacino in an exorcist movie in the Ritual.

28 Years Later: 40/125
Final Destination: 45/110
Weapons: 30/95
I Know What You Did Last Summer: 15/32
M3gan 2.0: 18/38
Bring Her Back: 9/22
The Ritual: 5/12

Good summation! I largely agree though give a slight edge to FD.

Weapons looks to be a breakout.

However, I think Last Summer will open big enough to have a solid sub $100m gross.

Final Destination: 49/132
28 Years Later: 43/115
Weapons: 30/110
I Know What You Did Last Summer: 38/90
M3gan 2.0: 24/60
Bring Her Back: 10/25
The Ritual: 7/14

I think Summers trailer was lame, originally thought it might open 25-30 but now not so sure. I think FD has it locked up

Summer's trailer WAS lame. Final Destination wins this easily. 28 Years Later isn't getting anything like people thought it would in those two days after its trailer was released where they convinced themselves that Cillian Murphy's character is a Jack Sparrow/Iron Man level draw, lol

Post Re: Biggest Horror Film of the Summer (2025)
I was looking at some of the 2010s horror openings compared to Bloodlines and they were a bit bigger than I expected.

The Nun for 54 million unadjusted (66 million adjusted)?
The Conjuring for 41.8 million (58.1 million adjusted) seems pretty good for first in series nothing new concept
Paranormal Activity 3 52.6 million (74.8 million adjusted).

It was the golden era where they could make horror movies for nothing, not have much pressure on them quality wise and get the big social audience on the weekend.
