Snow White fucked up every step of the way. I'm not gonna conspiracy like the last page, but it is somewhat miraculous that it made as much as it did.

They still run social media like TikTok though so it could have hurt when it comes to creating buzz/vibes heading into its release. But I think it's not the biggest reason for its failure.

- Big budget and decently successful KStew 2012 version made this redundant to an extent from the get go
- Latina actress in the lead role when the character is literally meant to be White as Snow leading to conservative/anti "woke" backlash
- Gal "IDF" Gadot's presence leading to backlash from the left
- Little people dwarf drama, replaced by horrible CGI
- Rachel Zegler dissing the original Snow White as anti-feminist, more backlash
- Bad CGI and cheap looking sets
- Anti-Disney sentiment among the public after years of regurgitated crap
- Snow White itself is an ancient product of another era that is nowhere nears as relevant as Lion King or Aladdin
- And finally that Lord Farquaad wig on poor Rachel Zegler as if everything wasn't bad enough already

I'll give you all these but not the first one. I do not believe Snow White and the Huntsman was a factor whatsoever. Who even remembers that film? It was not a Disney product, had such a different aesthetic, and didn't it even have an ill-thought out sequel that grossed less than $50m? Yeah, that pretty much shows that its impact was non-existent. If it couldn't help its DIRECT sequel then it isn't going to hurt this new Snow White film thirteen years later.

But the rest of your points are fair. And I am glad you didn't pick the low-hanging fruit of "GaDoT iS mUcH pRetTiEr tHaN ZeGleR!", because that didn't seem to matter when Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart gave it a go, and it doesn't matter now. The Snow White / Evil Queen thing is more about desiring youth than wanting to be hot.

We don't have a 2019 movie to compare it to but Snow White could be like the Captain Marvel franchise's relationship with MCU where it's a litmus test for where people are with Disney remakes. Hopefully the success of Wicked in comparison is because people responded to how it actually looked like it was about a relationship between her and Glinda and question of how/if she will go wicked. Likewise comparing Snow White to Hunger Games Ballad of Songbird and Snakes, there is some similarities, but the latter's marketing just made it seem like it was more about her and Snow's history and how he goes dark than Snow White does, in the latter that storyline is not the main point, the CGI and songs are. You can't blame them for this approach since on paper it seemed safer to go this route as anything else would have seemed automatically riskier, but they ended up flopping anyway so I guess it couldn't have done much worse.

Dumbo is good comp for this. Its already well behind that one. That did under 115m domestic. This will peter out close to 100m domestic.

There are basically three factors. The first four are all part of the first factor; bad PR. Lots of negative stories coming out across the board, the project just felt like something toxic rather than special. So you've got bad PR, Disney remake fatigue, and the story seeming old fashioned (although that didn't seem to hurt Cinderella).

To me Zegler totally rubbishing the Snow-White premise in her "weird, weird" feminist meme speech AND the ridiculous "dwarves" fiasco are the two main reasons people were turned off.

Being an older classic remake it's ceiling was also lower than remakes of the 90s era films. Even Cincderella only made $220m or so - very good but not gangbusters.

No one cares about your opinions or politics after making 1 or 2 movies.

Just focus on acting get some good roles under your belt and then speak your mind when you become uncancellable.
