Moana seems like the monster of the weekend though and going to be an interesting race to watch against Wicked as it outpaces Inside Out 2.

Wouldn't it be something to see 3 $100M+ OWs but seems too far for Gladiator's reach. $65M would be a decent start for Gladiator though as I feel it will play into the new year.

I am not convinced by that Gladiator number. I am thinking lower than that for now. Its presales are well below Oppenheimer. Of course its strong buzz close to release could help get it there but I am skeptical for now.

80m for Wicked seem too low. I am hearing the movie is really good.

I feel like if any movie can possibly top Inside Out 2, the one with the best chance is Wicked. It could definitely pull a Barbie with the way things are looking. Lower OW but with the Christmas holidays who knows.

I was leaning towards Moana 2 as having the best chance with 150 mil opening and then phenomenal holidy season. However it always felt like the movie would be ok quality wise as they rushed it from TV plans.

Also feels like Wicked will be able to stand out longer. Between Sonic and Mufasa (with Disney likely shifting resources over) family competition will be pretty brutal by the time Moana reaches Christmas.

Gladiator 2 will do decent numbers but not be a uber blockbuster.

Personally I feel like a better comp for Gladiator would be JW4 (non-summer + action movie not drama). I also think BB4 is likely to be a better comp than Oppy

Seeing the impact of Jenny Ortega on Beetlejuice shows the power of a film with multi generation appeal.

Having fans of Wizard of Oz (older), the book (90s), then Wicked the play (early 00's), then Grande (10s/20s), combined with Thanksgiving, Christmas holidays, family film appeal, and strong reviews along with Oscar attention and seems like its primed for a multi-quadrant event. Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard helps with male appeal too.

Showing that quality box office nous that led you to pick not only Horizon 1 AND 2 but Joker too!
