Will The Apprentice beat Reagan?
Reagan is doing excellently well. The Apprentice has Trump's re-election campaign acting as a pseudo-marketing campaign for the movie. Does it stand any chance of doing well? It is getting more exposure, but will anyone care to see it in theaters? Personally it feels more of a Netflix offering but then Reagan also felt like that to me. Reagan has $23,237,195 after 3 weekends. The Apprentice comes out on Oct 11.

Re: Will The Apprentice beat Reagan?
I don't see The Apprentice doing very well. Trump fans can't handle anything that is critical of him, and Trump haters get enough of him in real life (and would also like something that is more critical of his presidency, I don't think anyone really hated Trump when he was young.) So who is gonna see this Wolf of Wall Street-lite movie? If Trump wins the election, the academy will rebel against him by awarding the transgender woman best actress, so The Apprentice doesn't even have that going for it.
$2M / $3.5M

Re: Will The Apprentice beat Reagan?
My earliest memories of Trump are from 1998 - Wrestlemania IV from Trump Plaza. Life was much simpler then. But I digress, the film is anti-Trump (I'm assuming) so I doubt it gains traction.
Reagan if it was released 10-15 years ago would have done even better. That said, a $25-$30m gross in the current market is quite good.

I don't think many people are that interested in The Apprentice. I won't be surprised if the total is less then the opening for Reagan.

$2M / $3.5M Not disputing the appeal falls betweens two stools, but I think people aren't quite correct when they say Trump was never controversial before his 2015 announcement. He was sort of in the zone of the Kardashians, annoying and the image of decadence but more cheesy than politically radioactive. This was his general image.

Re: Will The Apprentice beat Reagan?
I agree it would've made more money if it was set during the presidency like the W. Brolin movie and they got to have fun casting name actors for people like Pence, Giuliani, Bannon, etc. Also Sebastian Stan felt wrong from the start.

I’m actually surprised Reagan did as good is at did with the crazy baggage quad brings now. Looks like 10 mil at most, probably the better film, and it was filmed 4 years ago so that kind of explains that it did ok.
