Five Nights at Freddy's Predictions
Presales started midnight yesterday and its off to a strong start. Despite Peacock day and date, this movie will have a good OW. I am thinking 40m+ OW based on presales seen so far.

Re: Five Nights at Freddy's Predictions
Yes, I think it breaks out big time despite the Peacock Day and Date.
I predicted $30m in the Sep/Oct game but $40m wouldn't surprise me. I just don't know how big a hit it gets due to the simultaneous streaming release.

Re: Five Nights at Freddy's Predictions
I'm so angry at Universal for putting this on Peacock right away. Big mistake. Luckily it should still do really well. But it could do better if it weren't on there.

Re: Five Nights at Freddy's Predictions
I think this is an example of misleading presales. High initial activity then it subsides, amounting to a disappointing opening.

Re: Five Nights at Freddy's Predictions
Brand has a very wide range, there are even kids barely 5 that play, definitely in that detective pikachu/ uncharted range potential

Re: Five Nights at Freddy's Predictions
how strong is the presales. It has the strongest start for this month minus of course Eras. Way stronger than all recent horror flicks including Halloween kills, Exorcist etc. Sales are really strong for friday as well. Its going to open big for sure.

Re: Five Nights at Freddy's Predictions
Guessing the peacock day and date won't affect OW that much but maybe this will have a bad multiplier (unless it's well received)

It's honestly surprising that so many people are buying tickets for it this early. There will be plenty of people waiting until it actually opens to get tickets.

They can affect presales and make them look indicative of broader interest, but that's the part I'm betting doesn't materialise.

Re: Five Nights at Freddy's Predictions
The sale of it's streaming, and theatrical rights have already put this in profit apparently. I still think it will do well OW even if it is frontloaded.

It's a pretty unique concept for a horror movie in October with brand name recognition. We've seen things like this happen before. The Peacock nonsense was all that was holding it back. Halloween Kills still managed nearly $50M though.

I hadn’t heard of the game before and was wondering where the pre sales were coming from

Re: Five Nights at Freddy's Predictions
I remember the game being big with my friends when I was in college a decade ago for a bit, but I didn't realize just how strong its popularity still was. The pre-sales in the Chicago suburbs I'm around have been particularly impressive - some theaters have already sold as many tickets for this movie's Thursday previews in three weeks as Exorcist has for tomorrow's previews! So yeah, I definitely think it's opening big at least, even if it's gonna crash pretty quickly afterwards.

Re: Five Nights at Freddy's Predictions
Presales are just steamrolling along. At this point I am convinced its a huge breakout. Its not just doing well in big markets. Its breaking out in smaller markets as well. How high it goes I dont want to guess now. Let us see close to release. For now I will bump it up to 50m+ OW.

It's a pretty unique concept for a horror I think it's because I already saw the Nicolas Cage version a couple years ago. This one feels like a rehash.

Re: Five Nights at Freddy's Predictions
There is all kinds of chatter about Freddy's blowing up big time. http://twitter.com/JonnyBlox/status/170 ... 81956?s=20In fact the tracking from AMC is least exciting(thought its still very good). Its blowing up like mid teens previews in several markets. At this point AMC looks like under indexing as they have not allocated sufficient shows despite a good start. That will change close to release. but as I posted before, it does not have Imax/PLF that say Oppenheimer had which was another movie with smaller Preview release compared to most blockbusters. I will keep comping these 2 movies from that perspective.

Re: Five Nights at Freddy's Predictions
I checked my local Cinemark, not a big theater for pre-sales, and this movie already has more tickets sold for its Thursday previews (36) than for The Exorcist: Believer's previews tonight (31). Absolutely absurd that Universal chose this to be a day-and-date movie and not Exorcist. I'm still guessing it'll be hella frontloaded, but this is starting to feel like the fall's biggest non-concert opener...

Re: Five Nights at Freddy's Predictions
people are comparing this to Barbie !!! I am still not seeing that high but at this point its definitely opening 50m+. How much higher beyond that depends on how big the release is. So far its quite small but sales are not slowing down at all. It would be a shocker if it opens > 100m or something crazy. Imagine having 2 100m+ opener in October after not having one so far :-) To me this would become the most impressive opener of the year ahead of Mario and Barbie.

The review embargo isn't dropping until after it releases lol. I'm now equally excited for the opening weekend and second weekend drop.

Re: Five Nights at Freddy's Predictions
I wonder if this will play like a kids movie and see an increase on Saturday. Maybe not if the preview numbers are as big as they're looking. If not I bet it has a small drop.
