 Re: Equalizer 3 weekend thread
Bottoms is looking like a 3.1 Million 3-Day and 3.7 Million 4-Day. It did 1.2 Million on Friday. Pretty good expansion.

So this is looking at the 2nd biggest Labor Day weekend ever... lol the fact that the top 2 are within the last few years. This date needs to be utilized more.

 Re: Equalizer 3 weekend thread
All 3 Equalizers opened pretty on par with each other, has there been another franchise like that!? Good for Denzel, I honestly thought it'd open low 20s

2023 audiences are so difficult. One week they are out on franchises, the next they are back in. Good for Denzel though. I wonder how a Man on Fire 2 would perform?

 Re: Equalizer 3 weekend thread
Think its less "franchise" and more "Denzel." He only has one franchise but his fans show up every time.
The summer passed $4B! We can thank Barbenheimer for that but a remarkable turnaround from the low of the Flash/Elemental weekend.
Also Denzel is probably top 3 for most bankable stars. Even if she took years off Julia / George in a rom com did $16.5M OW. Bullock and Leo have big pull still as well.

This last quarter will be interesting, we might see a lot of surprises due to to the emptiness. Hell I’m starting to think expendable 4 might even surprise.

 Re: Equalizer 3 weekend thread
Barbie updated 4day estimate $13.13M, total $612.01M.
Suddenly, WB also pulled the digital release dates for Barbie. Finally came to their senses and realized they have a record breaking run here that if given a long enough theatrical release could break the top 10 of all time.
10 Jurassic World $653,406,625 2015 11 The Avengers $623,357,910 2012 12 Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi $620,181,382 2017 13 Barbie $612,010,000 2023
Barbie is $41.4M away from the top 10 domestic list. A lot will depend how it holds now that schools are heading back but an Oscar run, maybe even a Barbenswift push in October, whatever they need to get it higher.

 Re: Equalizer 3 weekend thread
Random trivia, with this past weekend The Equalizer is now the most consistent franchise in movie history according to The Numbers: Quote: The franchise’s remarkable consistency is shown in the analysis below, which calculates the percentage standard deviation in opening weekend across a franchise (click on the image for a full list across all franchises). The Ocean’s Eleven movies previously held the record with a 5% deviation. The Equalizer movies have a deviation of just 2.3%. More here:

 Re: Equalizer 3 weekend thread
While they’d be farther apart with inflation it was definitely a good idea to keep making Ocean’s movies, basically guaranteed 35 million or higher opening weekend.

Saw was up there to for 2-5 before the boot dropped. Equalize 1 and 2 both had identical RT at 58%, though 3 pulled a BB3 and went 75%

 Re: Equalizer 3 weekend thread
From Actuals:
-MI7 has closed the gap to $4M with IJ5 and passed $170M which is a remarkable recovery. If it can leg out to $180M would symbolically be a good level to end at.
-TLM is $1.85M away from $300M. Going to be a slow, slow crawl.
-Talk To Me, which hasn't spent one weekend in the top 5, nor had any day above $4.5M and opened to $10.4M is on its way to $50M+ with a 23% drop (best in the top 10) and $4.5M budget. Opened in Barbenheimer's second weekend but its under the radar had an amazing run.
-Meg2 while down from the original is still probably going to pull an $85M+ total domestic and $400M+ global. Still a win and we'll probably get a Meg 3.
-Bottoms had a promising expansion. Will a lack of product in the fall could have some room.
-TMNT is at $108M. Maybe has a chance to pull $125M+ as a lack of family movies could let it leg it out.
-Equalizer with actuals is at $42.8M. Nice to get another $100M+ movie which it's well on its way to.
-Oppenheimer at $311M. Still going and where it ends up with awards season TBD. Looks on its way to at least $340M.
-7 week run and Barbie is at $612M!!! Let's see how its post summer legs are but should be interesting if it gets any type of Swift concert bump. Feels like a similar audience / event status where people will dress up again so maybe the association will help it get a bump up when people who want to see Taylor get sold out of screenings so see Barbie again?

Haunted Mansion is probably underrated as a bomb with only 100 mil WW so far.

It will probably miss $180M but think it can still catch Indy as it's Monday was $400K net difference so can make slow continued gains.

Low key one of the biggest bombs of all time and we're barely talking about it. It's very rare for a film with that huge of a budget to not at least outgross its budget.

 Re: Equalizer 3 weekend thread
Think part of the attention hasn't been on Haunted Mansion for something like this analogy:
We should do another Waterworld movie. Let's give it a massive budget this time since it worked out so well the first time when we gave it a massive budget. And its a Christmas themed version this time. So how about we release it in the summer so people enjoy the seasonal aspects.
No one asked for this remake but it was forced on us and had such low expectations. So it flopped and will lose money but also won't be as bad as other movies that possibly lost $150M+.
