 Re: March 10-12 Predictions
This is the first month since the pandemic that looks legit like it's going to deliver boffo box office each weekend.
Btw, Creed III looks all but certain to pass Rocky IV's $127,873,716 to become the biggest boxing movie of all time, topping it 38 years later.
Once Scream overperforms though as well as with Creed, not sure if these will give good lessons about the producers/studios behind the films. Neve and Stallone weren't exactly valued for the base they built to make both of these movies possibly reach franchise best openings. Hope in future they get more respect for what they've put in.

 Re: March 10-12 Predictions
It needed 38 years of inflation to beat it. Big win, lol

 Re: March 10-12 Predictions
Yeah I don’t buy these biggest film of the series acclamations when the film series spans decades unless it’s a Force Awakens or Jurassic World type gross.
That said - Creed 3 is performing amazingly.
Scream 3 will too off-course. I don’t see Nev not being in it as a negative - mainly because her story is done. No need to keep repeating her involvement. Plus the Scream 5 passed on the baton to a Nee Gen quite well. Certainly better than Scream 4 tried to do. In the end - timing is just right that Jenna Ortega’s sky rocketing fame will only further help this.

 Re: March 10-12 Predictions
For a movie being released nationwide in three days, 65 certainly has a weak brand voice. Is the studio bothering to promote it? I've seen nothing besides the trailer that came out weeks ago. Sure, that may be playing before every screening of every movie across the country, I don't know, but usually one can gauge its overall marketing push based on online exposure, and I haven't seen much. Buzz doesn't seem there either. It feels like Sony isn't doing a good job getting it out there.
Then again I've diddly squat for Scream VI as well, but you kind of feel that will take care of itself with its excellent trailers and people anticipating it.

 Re: March 10-12 Predictions
I watched the UFC fight on Saturday and 65 marketing was everywhere. Maybe they are doing very niche focused marketing.

 Re: March 10-12 Predictions
65 could have done far better in mid April or August

 Re: March 10-12 Predictions
Scream 6 reviews are about on par with the last film. Shouldn’t significantly help it or hurt it.

 Re: March 10-12 Predictions
The original Scream only has a 65 on metacritic. It's one of those movies that has become such a classic that you would assume everyone loved it at the time. Like how Jurassic Park only has a 68.

 Re: March 10-12 Predictions
Scream 2 had a jaw drop moment type OW. It looks like this could start to approach the peak OW's even adjusted for inflation if it gets in the $50s.
Scream 1 $6,354,586 OW ($15M adjusted) Scream 2 $32,926,342 OW ($65M adjusted) Scream 3 $34m ($57M adjusted)
Poor Neve. She ain't coming back until maybe 3 movies from now when it's gotten lazy and they need to reboot Scream again.
They are bringing back I Know What You Did Last Summer, etc. with Hewitt so feel like these 90s horror movie reboots could do really well that came out after Scream's success.

 Re: March 10-12 Predictions
This is a good one. It should open around $45m (floor) and have good legs.

 Re: March 10-12 Predictions
Scream is looking at around 6m previews tonight. Probably low 40s OW. More like 5-5.5m range and probably mid to late 30s OW. walkups were not good at all.
65 is a big bomb. ~1.2m previews and high single/low double digits OW. Also they seem to have kept the reviews out until today. Just 5 reviews at RT :-)
