 Re: Weekend Estimates
That's the biggest opening weekend for a Paramount release since Transformers: Age of Extinction in June 2014. :wow: So happy for them going 4 for 4 with profitable hits this year, especially after having to fire sale so many releases during the pandemic. Wonder if Top Gun: Maverick will continue that streak.
Excellent expansion for Everything Everywhere All At Once. Even in pre-COVID times that would be a great number, and WOM is off the charts - it has a 9.0 on IMDB!! Should top $20M, $30M is not out of the question...

 Re: Weekend Estimates
Excellent for Sonic and Everything Everywhere. Sonic hitting $70m+ without IMAX is really impressive.

 Re: Weekend Estimates
Sonic moved up to $72.1M with a holiday weekend next week. 2.774 multiplier to get to $200M.
6 movies did $6M+ this weekend which is very good considering not too long ago we couldn't get one movie above $6M. Top 10 tally for first week of April (non-holiday) of $116M is great leading into the summer. Already 34.6% of the total 2021 tally and year to date running 383% ahead of last year from Jan. 1 - Apr. 11th.

 Re: Weekend Estimates
Sonic doing $72m is pretty crazy. Good for it.
Morbius probably won't get to $80m.... epic fail.
The Batman is confirmed to be on Max next week so it'll likely plummet. Really too bad it couldn't have just ran with no streaming until at least Doctor Strange but whatever.

 Re: Weekend Estimates
Terrific for Sonic 2 indeed. Not an easy task for a sequel like this to outperform the original by this amount.
Could go big and include Shadow, Blaze and Rogue in a third and final film. (Assuming they're not featured or hinted at in this one.)

 Re: Weekend Estimates
Kind of crazy that Sonic is Paramount's #2 biggest OW of the past 12 years behind Transformers Age of Extinction in 2014. To put things into perspective of how bad Paramount was doing, here are it's only films do to $60M+ OW in the last 8 years: Sonic $72M - 2022 MI Fall Out $61M - 2018 That's it! Disney has seen 16 movies have an opening day over $60M+!
