Corpse, Imported Film did not have a great year in Japan. So, we will not see them in Eiren 2021 chart schedule to release in 25th January, 2022. I have some numbers for the imported films until the position 10. I was amazed Spidey OP, So, I expect that Imported Film would not disappointed us.

2021 TOP 10 Imported Films in Japan:
1. Fast and Furious 9 : ¥3.66B
2. 007: No Time To Die : ¥2.70B (schedule for re-release)
3. Godzilla Vs Kong : ¥1.9B
4. Monster Hunter : ¥1.25B
5. Eternals : ¥1.2B
6. Shang Chi : ¥960M
7. Black Widow : ¥950M
8. Jungle Cruise : ¥850M
9. Tom and Jerry : ¥790M
10. Dune : ¥770M

The above numbers are as of December 12, 2021.

I hate Leaker's Update but thank you for sharing. BTW, how long do you expect this work to run. Can it run until Golden Week?

It would be doing pretty negligible numbers by GW if it did get there I imagine. GW is still over 3 months away.

Then, we are closing before Conan OD (っ˘̩╭╮˘̩)っ GW will not boost it's dailies. Indeed, I think we are having Conan, Dragon Ball &preety more movies to hold. Sadly, I still want it to continue GW.

Generally, a major performer like JJK0 is expected to run strong (in the Top 10) for ~3-4 months. And JJK0 is looking to remain in the Top 3 until at least early/mid-March, or almost 3 months after its release (might manage to rise back to #1 a couple times over the next ~4 weeks thanks to the giveaway events and premium format expansions). It'll probably remain in the Top 10 until around the start of Golden Week (mid/late-April), but the focus typically shifts to the big films that are being released ahead of/or during a major holiday period, so its run should begin to slow down considerably around then.-

They'll still be included in Eiren's yearly report next week. But yes, another abysmal year for Hollywood/Imported Films. They only had 5 films earn above ¥1 billion, accounting for just 13% of the overall films above that total for the year. And F9 is the only one in the Top 12. We'll know the exact numbers next week, but they are still down perhaps 80%+, again, versus 2019 or earlier.

There are two major contributing factors to their struggles/decline:

-Hollywood's move to streaming services and shorter theatrical windows. Japan is a market that is pretty late to the digital era in general, and its box-office is known for being one of the leggiest in the world (it might be?), so this trend isn't helping them at all here. Theaters in Japan are also anti-streaming, so they're boycotting films with theatrical windows. If a film is given a 30-day window, for instance, theaters are dropping them (regardless of performance) the day before the premiere on streaming.

-Japan's rapidly changing demographics (or, rather, loss of them!). Japan's population is aging and declining rapidly. There are fewer and fewer children/teens and family audiences every year, so companies like Disney that rely on them will begin (have begun) to struggle more and more. It's becoming more important than ever to appeal to older audiences (50+) and females (who are making up about 2/3 of the moviegoing crowd in Japan now).

My English is trash. (I actually wanted to say "we will not see some of them") BTW, AMC Theatres site went down like every time : https://www.amctheatres.com/movies/jujutsu-kaisen-0 (link)
But, I got Mongolia link still working (https://www.urgoo.mn/movie/ho00000925/j ... -the-movie) It's an IMAX screen, however I don't know how much Mongolia contribute to box office. It is rated R (G at Japan) there. So, I believe other overseas market will rate the film as "R"

The full Weekend Actuals weren't released this week, but if they ever are (pretty doubtful now that we're going into the weekend...), I'll be sure to share them.

In the meantime, I'll provide some updated estimates for JJK0, Spider-Man, and Confidence Man JP a little later.

Rough Estimates (Top 4) as of Friday, 01/21:

~¥8.89-8.90 billion ($80.7/80.8 million) / 6.51-6.52 million admissions - Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (29 Days)
~¥2.80-2.82 billion ($25.3/25.4 million) / 1.84-1.86 million admissions - Spider-Man: No Way Home (15 Days)
~¥2.29-2.30 billion ($18.9/19.0 million) / 1.75-1.76 million admissions - 99.9: Criminal Lawyer (23 Days)
~¥890-910 million ($7.8-8.0 million) / 630,000-650,000 admissions - The Confidence Man JP: Episode of Hero (8 Days)

>JJK0 is looking to either remain flat over the weekend, or most likely experience an increase thanks to the second giveaway promotion. So it should be looking at a five week total between ¥9.4-9.6 billion ($85-86 million) and 6.8-6.9 million admissions.

>No Way Home has already matched Homecoming's total. Depending on the weekend hold, it should exceed ¥3 billion and be very close to Far From Home's total (¥3.06 billion) after Sunday. Then it'll surpass both The Amazing Spider-Man films (¥3.16 billion and ¥3.14 billion) over the course of next week.

Huh, really surprised to see it dropped instead, looks like around -15%. That'd mean probably something like 375M weekend since sunday would drop harsher if correct, but I'll wait till end of the day and see if mimorin bugged out since the total seat count is definitely wrong for everything, might be the same for ticket sales.

Strangely, they weren't released. We got all the totals, but only a few weekend figures. I can share them a later today/tomorrow.

JustLurking: Probably should wait to see what the numbers are on Monday. There is a good chance mimorin is having some issues since some SOEs went into effect this weekend. Any locations with a restaurant or apart of an establishment where alcohol is served has to close by 8/9pm in the affected prefectures, so there's likely some errors with the system calculating sales at these theaters. Now, it *could* simply remain flat or decrease slightly. It's still earning a good amount where an increase is more difficult.

LPLC: Probably. There's a slim chance still, but it's looking less likely every day. If it doesn't get away from these 50% drops in the next week, it'll probably miss that mark.

We knew it was going to rise to #1 this weekend, but official conformation:

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 returns to #1 in its fifth weekend, its total now up to ¥9,310,477,450 ($84.4 million) and 6,812,266 admissions after 31 days. Its 4DX/MX4D and Dolby Cinema expansion (which will add 85 locations) begins on February 5th, the same day the next giveaway promotion kicks off.

Post Re: Japan Box-Office: Weekly Shonen Jump History
In surpassing ¥9 billion, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 has become just the second film based on a WSJ title to reach this mark. It'll also become just the second to reach 7 million admissions soon. And it'll break ¥10 billion, of course, to become only the second one to achieve uber-blockbuster status as well. And with the 4DX/MX4D expansion, Dolby Cinema expansion, and two more giveaway events, it still has quite a bit left in the tank.

(And, of course, if Demon Slayer didn't break the box office in 2020, then JJK0 would be the first to achieve all these milestones.)

Weekly Shonen Jump Box-Office History:

12.5b seems like a reasonable prediction for JJK to end at.

Yeah. Looking at these lists, it's doable to crack the Top 10 Animated Films, so a total above The Wind Rises may end up being the goal here. So, ¥12.03 billion is that number. I just upped the "expectation" to ¥12.5 billion since it'd be more likely to finish there assuming The Wind Rises becomes the film to beat.

Anything more doesn't get it anywhere else but a couple more spots up the All-Time List, and aiming for the Top 20 there seems rather pointless. (There wouldn't me any methods really left to use by this time either.)
