Post Sonic - under 80 million club
Not feeling it. I would guess a lot of people under 10 don't give a fuck about Sonic or Carrey. And it doesn't look that great to adults. I expect bad reviews as usual for video game movies with potential for radioactive leading to a low multiplier.

Nah. It's gonna do more than half of that for the 4-day.

It will be frontloaded by default, but it should open with enough.

The redesign lead to A Lot of positive coverage for the second trailer. I actually think his hyperkinetic mannerisms will highly appeal to modern children too.

I see Peter Rabbit numbers for this maybe a little higher than that with better publicity and bigger holiday boost. OUT.

In. What were people predicting last year for Detective Pikachu... $250-$300m? and it made less than half of that.

People are predicting, what $120-$130m ish for this? Halve it.

Early presales have been promising. Plus there is nothing in the market for families and so I am out. Probably 45m over 4 days and 130-140m domestic.

I think so people are saying $165m+ for this so I think half that and it will still reach $80m

Yeah I guess I’d be more comfortable with an under $100m club.

But.... sticking with this.

Unless this has like Dark Phoenix legs I feel like the opening alone will be too big for this to happen even if it only opens to something like $30-$35M.

Nah - this is doing 120m or so. The film has good will thanks to the redesign and the kids love the trailer. With an open marketplace I can see it going even higher.

Sonic should do well. The Sonic Dash game is really popular and they've marketed the movie well. As a parent, I'll enjoy going for the nostalgia factor. I played the heck out of Sonic as a kid.

This is kind of my feeling. The ceiling for video game movies just seems so low, I'm not sure why this would do as well as Detective Pikachu when Pokemon has arguably done a better job staying relevant over the years than Sonic.

The way PS is going its looking at 20m OD. So this club is ridiculous at this point.

I'm pretty flabbergasted by this one. I guess adding 90s nostalgia actor to 90s game nostalgia was pretty genius
