Post MLK Weekend Showdown : Dolittle V Bad Boys for Life
This is the first ‘biggish’ head to head battle of 2020 and the MLK weekend has been a strong launching pad for a number of years now so should make it interesting.

This year we have RDJ returning to the screen for the first time since Endgame in an effects heavy family film remake coming just two decades after the successful Eddie Murphy remakes. It does look good but is that enough?

Then you have Will Smith coming off the back of a mixed year but returning to a successful franchise that hasn’t really called out for a sequel. But the MLK weekend will certainly help boost its OW.

Which film wins out OW?

Which grossed more overall?

Dolittle will be DOA. No matter how much marketing is pumped into it.

Both disappointments. Bad Boys is 10 years too late and without its director. Dolittle will be latest failed attempt to be the next Pirates, kind of think they should've just asked Murphy back, but this is the era of trying to start a multi film blockbuster franchise or a small film with nothing in between

I think Dolittle will do around 25m OW. Bad Boys will probably do around that as well.

This is really a toss-up. No idea which has the edge.

BB4L - 30m-40m
Dolittle - 15-20m (would not be surprised if it does only 10m)

I'd give the edge to BB4L as at least it's a wanted movie. Both movies look NOT GOOD. But it should open higher.

Yeah I’m thinking BBFL can at least get to $35-$40m 4-Day while Doolittle will be closer to $30m. I don’t think either will outright tank but will both fall short of $100m.

Yeah I feel like this is going to be a toss up as well. It shouldn't be that hard for either to do $30-$40M over the 4-Day holiday frame, but if I had choose one it would probably be BBFL.

Really annoying that this is the 3rd Bad Boys movie so they can’t call it Bad Boys 4 Life.
