Damn 20m is really good though today’s number is the big test as to how well it may end up doing. If it ends up with 34m+ it be a massive success.

It's ridiculous that it's fighting to stay ahead of Rogue One  and not The Last Jedi.
Battle for #2 in the trilogy was over on day one.

In the two prior trilogies the 3rd film exceeded the 2nd. Need to keep the streak going.

Not to that extent though. I think most thought it would gross 50m at least.

It will have to have TFA legs to do it and I doubt that

I would say 550-600m depending on how the late legs is. But it is not beating SW8.

I think it’s lower gross is due more because of Last Jedi than Rise of Skywalker itself

Yah some Star Wars fans were lost after TLJ. Proven with that low (for this Saga trilogy) opening weekend gross.

I couldn't agree more. I'm positive ROS will have much better legs than the abomination that was TLJ.

Anyone who was predicting under a 3 multiplier didn’t appreciate how awful that would be for the release date. Seriously, 1.8 on another weekend. You think TFA had good legs but it was a frontloaded franchise film with about the lowest multiplier ever for the weekend.

Since there's not a thread for it yet Uncut Gems made an estimated 6 Million on Christmas. That does include the 1+ Million it did in previews but still that's terrific. Spies In Disguise is only estimated at 5 Million.

Very happy for A24.
