Billie's album isn't doing as strong on streaming as I would imagine, don't think whole album will debut on top 100.

Butter remains #1. A joke. Billboard allowing fans to buy multiple copies of remixes is doing this.

Billboard probably wants to encourage other fanbases to do the same thing. Free money for the whole industry.

The question is, when a different artist finally hits #1, will BTS fans revolt, violently attack BB HQ and complain for months about how the charts were stolen from them by other people cheating?

What's funny is if Lil Nas X had a fanbase that could organize and buy singles he wouldn't even need that much of a sales boost to get #1. Butter is so low on streaming and not that high on radio that 1 BTS fan can buy 20 copies of Butter (4 for each version available) and 5 thousand or so BTS fans can make that #1 happen.

If Billboard changes rules I'm sure their fans would be totally outraged but it should happen.

I guess its great to have a fanbase that would want you to stay on these charts that in hindsight don't really mean much other than to make the individual happy in a way "Yes I made it happen". Plus BTS is making a lot of money out it and I am sure Billboard is happy because there is now a way fans of other artists might rile and get a track to #1 which would mean more competition and attention to their charts and music industry as a whole.

Change the damn rules

I don't know the rules exactly, but I'm assuming they're able to hold onto #1 because their fanbase continues to buy remixes of the original song. And then those remix buys are counted towards the original, correct?

Even if that's the case (correct me if I'm wrong--didn't look this up beforehand), if their intent is to keep the band at #1 for a long as possible, won't the fanbase just buy the original song over and over instead? BTS is pretty easily the biggest band worldwide, with millions of hardcore fans, so I wouldn't expect them to suddenly back off here, and buying the singles over and over, regardless if it's the same version or not, is likely from my point of view.

I think Billboard just needs to change the 4 copies rule. Is there really any reason to buy 4 digital copies? -____-

Did BTS fans run out of allowance or just get overconfident and lapse for a week?

I wonder if it can reach 100 weeks (104 weeks i.e 2 years would be insane!!) but its very much possible given that the song still going strong.

Only 238k for Eilish. :noway: Still probably top ten since they changed the rules last year (no more merchandise/cd bundles) bigger than Grande’s ‘Positions’, but I was expecting alot more considering how much hype it had even without any hit singles. Olivia Rodrigo has highest of the year at 290k and Taylor has tops since the change with about 350k for Evermore. Will be interesting to see how people like Kendrick and Adele perform with their next albums.

I also read that 238k includes 70k vinyl sales, which seems like a lot. Streaming numbers must have been very poor and dragged it down.

Both albums are good, but I think Eilish's singles career since bad guy has been forgettable, her style is a little too unconventional which I guess makes sense. Her ballads will never have the mass appeal of someone like Adele's due to being neurotic instead of love song/breakup songs, her only chance for a many week #1 hit is probably another banger.

Yeah Billie's album streams were surprising. The single choices were wrong. Had she released NDA and Oxycotin instead of Your Power and Lost Cause and the album came out earlier it would've opened better.

Luckily HTE is excellent and will hopefully be a hit.

Good 4 U has now tied the record for most weeks at #2. :funny:

Also, Stay is kinda cool. I like this new trend of pop-punk inspired songs at #1.

What's the record for #2? That seems low.....

I think Work It and bad guy were 9-10 weeks behind Lose Yourself and Old Town Road, but I guess Good 4 U has been there as long.

Stay seems like the type of disposable but acceptable song you will hear on the radio for many years. Nice to see pop doing better on the charts lately.
