Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
Interesting choice for second single but glad it hit #1.
The Boy Is Mine is right there though ... Maybe saving it for summer?

Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
Lose Control feels like another random #1 but I guess its been awhile since a country dude got there. I'm surprised that Teddy Swims was able to get there before the similiar sounding/looking Jelly Roll.

Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
Like That debuting #1 is no surprise. Hozier getting a top 5 debut is though? Can't believe that dude is still hanging around but I guess the folk pop sound is hot right now. Too Sweet is pretty catchy too.

Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
Hozier rising during Beyonce week is even more impressive than its debut. I think we found our Song of the Summer already.

It's a good song. Hozier will avoid being a 1 hit wonder, just took him 10 years to have a big mainstream hit again.

Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
Hozier up to #2 but Like That is just too much of a beast right now. And Future/Metro released the second half of the album on Friday, so that might push everything else down again next week. Then of course we have Tortured Poets Department coming Friday which might clear out the entire top ten. So I predict Too Sweet will hit #1 near the end of May after hanging around at #2 for a few more weeks.

Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
1.6 million first day sales. Will be very frontloaded by the vinyl sales though (who didn't get the better half of the album lol), so it will likely have to settle for #2 all time debut behind Adele's 3.38!million (still insane) and ahead of NSYNC's 2.4.

Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
Think Tipsy by Shaboozey (basically a country version of the 2000s song) is gonna be big. (edit: I mean Bar Song)

Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
Wow I thought Like That was surely too strong to take down just yet but Hozier managed it. I don't see Fortnight being a multi-week #1 like Anti-Hero (Down Bad could be?), so Too Sweet should be back at the top pretty quickly. I bet it gets at least 10 weeks at #1.
Espresso is just as boring and generic as every other Sabrina Carpenter song lol.

Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
I thought it was going to be a Europe likes it more thing like Padam Padam, but Espresso is smashing on Spotify, I would rather A Bar Song be song of the summer though.

Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
And 2.7 million album sales which is second of all time and by far the #1 highest seller that went directly to streaming. Once again shows she is just on a different level than any other musical artist.

Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
9 years later I still can't believe the 3.4 million Adele number happened, I'll take that over all the records in any other medium. The conditions for "album sales" actually seem better now combined with Taylor being at a supernatural level of popularity and it still couldn't touch it. With that said at some point album sales should just be forgotten about as the real bar for how popular an album is becomes total streams.

Really like this top 10. A far cry from the days of it being all mumble rap.

Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
Dua couldn't even debut at #1. Again lol. Tortured Poets 3rd week sales tripled it.
Surprised that Not Like Us debuted at #1 over Euphoria. I guess its just because the song is more fun and has seemingly ended the war?
