Yeah, Katy Perry should easily take #1, and Coldplay could very well drop to #4 or #5 thanks to Viva's disastrous sales drop...which I don't quite understand. Maybe so many people are buying the album that single sales have slowed? I don't know...that doesn't usually happen to such an extent.

It had a huge jump last week and it really isn't huge on radio yet so it was expected.

Isn't it about time for Leona's second single to be picking up steam? it seems to be taking an age.

I don't think it has gone for adds yet...but yeah, it should've happened already. Mediabase is down for the moment, but I think it's at about 200 spins, mostly satellite, an increase of about 100 spins over last week.

Boring HDD One Day's for next week:
Quote:
COLDPLAY STILL #1, BUT HERE COMES THE CRUE

Three Six Mafia, Shinedown Also on Tap for Chart Debuts

June 25, 2008

The top of next week’s chart will look a lot like this week, based on one-day sales reports from our intrepid gang of retail geeks around this great, sun-baked country of ours.

This week’s #1 album, Coldplay’s Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends will spend yet another week at the top of the HITS sales chart, followed by Cash Money/Universal Republic rap icon Lil Wayne’s blockbuster Tha Carter III and Disney’s still smoldering Camp Rock soundtrack, featuring the Jonas Brothers.

The biggest debut of the week will be Sunset Strip metalmongers Motley Crue’s new, independently released Saints of Los Angeles, on their own Motley Crue Records, distributed by RED, which is (pardon the pun) blowing past expectations at around 90k and headed for a #4 bow. It’s the first studio album from the original four members in more than a decade, since ‘97’s Generation Swine, which also bowed at #4, and is based on their best-selling autobiography, The Dirt.

Columbia Oscar-winning rappers Three 6 Mafia’s Last 2 Walk looks to be in the 50-60k range. :funny:

Atlantic Jacksonville, FL, grunge rockers Shinedown’s The Sound of Madness, their first studio album since ‘05’s gold Us and Them, is on target to sell between 40-45k in its first week.

ADA’s Sigur Ros is using some impressive iTunes numbers to land the enigmatic Icelandic art-rockers in the 25k range, give or take, followed by Fueled by Ramen emo comers Cute is What We Aim For at 20-25k.

Blue Note’s promising Philly singer-songwriter Amos Lee returns with his third studio album, Last Days at the Lodge, which should do around 20k.

Finally, G. Love returns after three solo albums with his Special Sauce for Superhero Brother, his third release on Jack Johnson’s Brushfire/Universal Republic imprint, with sales estimates in the 10-15k range.

The market was down 11% vs. last week, down 7% vs. same week last year and now down 11% year-to-date.

We now return you to finding the cheapest illegal fireworks online for Fourth of July.

I think that's good for Sigur Ros...I hope.

I just noticed Wayne has already outsold Good Girl Gone Bad. That's kinda crazy.

I know I know, but this really gives a good scale as to how weak her sales are compared to her chart success. Like, this album easily should have had The Duchess type numbers.

PCD is doing incredibly. I think this will be as big as Buttons or Dont Cha.

Katy Perry #1? I did NOT see that coming, i think her being no 1 is about as big a deal as there is for American music right now, it signifies the change in the landscape of the industry.

Bleeding Love's stanima is incredible.

Go Katy Perry with her first song topping the Billboard Top 100! Why did Viva la Vida fall that bad?

From girl pop songs about men to girl pop songs about lesbians?

surely its the first song about lesbianism that has topped the billboard chart
and with a sound very different from the majority of high charters - this kind of song wouldnt have cracked top 25 a few years ago.

True. And I think with the album out, people downloaded the full album instead of Viva La Vida (the single), thus its sales dropped down.

That's probably true to an extent, but the drop was just too damn big for it to be fully a result of that. Also, most of the people buying the album probably had the single already anyways, so it's not like they were going to buy it again anyways.

When I Grow Up....I predict that to reach #1 eventually.

Bleeding Love is just ridiculously huge. Its been in the top 5 forever.

Viva La Vida...ouch, but it was still #1 at least for a week I guess.

And yay go Katy!

HDD Weekend Update:
Quote:
COLDPLAY, LIL WAYNE VIE FOR #1: Either a classic U.K. rock band or a N’awlins rapper will top next week’s HITS Album sales chart as Capitol’s Coldplay appears to hold a slight edge over Lil’ Wayne with what looks like between 225k-240k, compared to the latter’s 215-225k. Disney’s Camp Rock will be #3 at 180-190k, with the week’s pair of Top 5 debuts, Eleven Seven/Motley Records’ Motley Crue (100-105k) and Columbia’s Three 6 Mafia (70-75k), up next. Capitol’s Now 28 follows at 55-60k, with LaFace/ZLG’s Usher at 50-55k. Atlantic’s Florida grunge rockers Shinedown bow at #7 with 40-45k, a similar total as Slip-N-Slide/Atlantic’s Plies, Def Jam/ILG’s Rihanna and Reprise’s Disturbed. (6/27p)

Fucking fantastic hold for Wayne.

M.I.A.'s up to #55 on itunes....this makes me very happy. The single was released like literally a year ago though, but ever since she appeared in the Top 100 about two months ago due to being featured in the Pineapple Express trailer, she hasn't fallen out and just reached a new peak.
