Re: Shack presents: Ranking all the top 100 #1s of this deca
Agreed, does anyone have the right to shout about an ex (that they broke up with) not wanting to talk to them? Oh I'm so sad you can't get closure and forgiveness for something you feel shitty about. ITS A REAL TRAGEDY ADELE.
We Found Love obviousy made my list, so I've come to like it alot. But I do agree that Harris' beat was initally off putting, it is always building up a big breakdown but the beat never drops. It just goes back to the main riff.

54. Bruno Mars - Just the Way You Are (Oct 2-23 2010, 4 weeks)
Really nice pop ballad by Bruno that's safe but not cheese. I like both the verses and chorus.

52. Taylor Swift feat. Kendrick Lamar - Bad Blood (June 6 2015, 1 week)
It's good for the reason most Taylor singles are, but this is probably one of her most middling. To be honest I probably should have ranked this lower as I forgot the Kendrick version made it worse by messing up the verses
Memorable Rihanna song from front to back. I like it when she lets an accent into the songs a bit, and this is the best possible way to use Drake's skills
Cardi's talent shines through a so far limited mumble rap genre (that's she's mostly left behind). What I like is her rage and intensity that builds with the beat, and lyrics that could have been meaningless somehow work. With that said she went to have several better songs on her album

48. Meghan Trainor - All About That Bass (Sept 20-Nov 8 2014, 8 weeks)
I like its uniqueness compared to other hits these days, between the structure and Meghan's voice which has an appealing old school voice. The "My mama she told me" chorus and her singing in it takes the song to a new level for me.
It took until it was released as a single, but I warmed up to this song's sweetness. Much like Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight" this song is likely on the shortlist for ones around decades from now, it's perfect for weddings, karaoke (especially with the duet option), guy with the acoustic guitar in college trying to get laid, and easy radio

45. B.o.B. feat Bruno Mars - Nothin on You (B.o.B. feat Bruno Mars - Nothin’ on You - May 1-8, 2 weeks)
Nice pop song with a well sung chorus by Bruno launching his career, and I'm cool with B.o.B's parts in this and Airplanes. Best of all, it inspired an incredible Weird Al parody
This song has held up well due to its uniqueness, and I'm a fan of the video. Overall though despite a great voice and great lyrics, I've just never been the biggest Lorde fan

42. Fun. - We Are Young feat Janelle Monae (March 17th, April 21st 2012, 6 weeks)
Being so date rape-y is weird for a song that will probably be used at graduations forever, but it's an enjoyable debut by Fun. with an interest contrast in pace between the verses and the chorus. I'm also just a big fan of Nate Ruess' voice any time I've heard him such as on this, Some Nights, Just Give Me a Reason or Headlights, too bad his career is going nowhere these days

Yeah We Are Young works a lot better if you don't pay attention to the verses. Though my high school banned "Here's To The Night" by Eve 6 for whatever reason, so maybe future kids will have had enough fun with fun.

41. MAGIC! - Rude (July 26-Aug 30 2014, 6 weeks)
What makes this song is by the video and his voice, the singer is just so THAT white guy who listens to reggae and would says things like "why you gotta be so ruuuuude" to his girlfriend's father. The whole concept of this song makes me laugh in a good way. I'll also always associate it with when I had a Mexican roommate and his friends who would throw the same party every weekend (and leave the apartment a disaster the next day), and they were pretty much obsessed with this song and blast it and all sing it at the exact same time every party like clockwork as I was trying to sleep

Ew I forgot about Rude and can't believe you ranked it so high. Looking through some of these #1s makes me think the Mumble-revolution isn't such a bad thing after all.

Nah, it's the opposite, recent mumblecrap is making me appreciate most of these songs are great

40. John Legend - All of Me (May 17-May 31 2014, 3 weeks)
One of the better love songs of this generation with very nice piano work. Memorable video with Chrissy of course. Also you know you crushed it when a song like this gets to #1, there's almost nothing resembling it on the rest of the list

38. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Wanz - Thrift Shop (Feb 2-23 and April 6-13 2013, 6 weeks)
I'm privy to some of Macklemore's more serious songs more than his comedy, but this is still fun. What takes it to another level beyond the comedy is they nail the production and the Wanz chorus is one of the best parts.

37. Lady Gaga - Born This Way (Feb. 26-Apr. 2 2011, 6 weeks)
Gaga's only #1 this decade, I like several of her other singles more and it's a little too close to Express Yourself, but compared to everyone else it's still a great pop song with an inspiring message even to those who aren't LGBT
