That's a steeper-than-expected drop for Leona, too.

Re: Music Sales/Chart Thread (Billboard/Hits Daily Double)
I was think Mariah would have been a lock for at least 500k, but nevertheless it is still her best debut ever.

Re: Music Sales/Chart Thread (Billboard/Hits Daily Double)
Also, you should keep in mind HDD underestimated her last album by something like 50K, so it could go up. Leona should rebound this week.

Re: Music Sales/Chart Thread (Billboard/Hits Daily Double)
Is it odd that iTunes music store charts have been frozen since Friday????
Madonna should be good for 375K
Lil Wayne looks sure to break 500K
Ne-Yo might have trouble hitting 200K, unless 'Closer' picks up steam
'Lollipop' should be #1 this week

Re: Music Sales/Chart Thread (Billboard/Hits Daily Double)
HDD One Days (for next week) Quote: SIMPLY SIMPSON: Ashlee Simpson, or should we say Mrs. Pete Wentz, will be the highest-charted debut next week with her new Geffen album, Bittersweet World, on track for between 50-55k in sales, a figure that could go higher consider she’ll be on the hit ABC show, Dancing with the Stars tonight.
Those wacky, Grammy-winning Kiwis The Flight of the Conchords make their full-length debut on Sub Pop through ADA, which could do around 30-40k, fueled by its current #1 status at iTunes. Rhymesayers/ADA’s Minneapolis art hip-hop duo Atmosphere will chart with approximately 30k, followed by Universal South’s country music legend Phil Vassar (25k) and Epitaph/ADA’s emo-punks Story of the Year (20k).
The market was up 2% vs. last week, down 8% vs. same week last year and now down 11% year-to-date, with all the upward mobility of a wife in a polygamy cult in Texas. (4/23p)

Re: Music Sales/Chart Thread (Billboard/Hits Daily Double)
Yeah it's a pretty good debut for 'Bye, Bye'; narrowly missing top 20 status. Should take a while to bounce back while airplay gains spins.
Nice for 'Lollipop', looks likely to hold '4 Minutes' off from #1 in 2 weeks if all airplay continues to explode (which I think it will.)
'Forever' will be Chris Brown's highest (and first top 10) debut.

Re: Music Sales/Chart Thread (Billboard/Hits Daily Double)
Quote: YOUR WEAKEND CHART PREVIEW: One thing we can say with certainty is that Mariah Carey will stay at #1 in week two. The Island/IDJ release is projecting 185-190k as we head into the weekend. Another thing we’re sure about is that Leona Lewis has legs. We’re putting the J/RMG album from Clive’s latest diva at 90-95k, contingent on a bump from Wednesday night’s Idol performance, which is already moving the needle on the digital side. Geffen’s Ashlee Simpson is looking like next week’s top debut with 50-55k, followed by the widely adored Kiwi duo Flight of the Conchords, whose first full-length will likely give Sub Pop its first Top 5 debut since The Shins last year with an estimated 40-45k, but it could go higher. The album has been #1 at iTunes since its release on Tuesday, but can it hold off the surging Leona Lewis? Rounding out the Top 5 will probably be either Now 27 (SBMG/Commercial Music Group) or the Juno soundtrack (Rhino), with both heading toward 30-35k. But hot on their heels is another pair of bows, Atmosphere (Rhymesayers) and Phil Vassar (Universal South), both trending toward 28-30k. Staying in the realm of nuance, we presently have four releases looking 25-28k-ish: George Strait (MCA Nashville), R.E.M. (WB), Taylor Swift (Big Machine), Jack Johnson (Brushfire/Universal Republic). The next grouping, at 23-25k, includes Michael Buble (Reprise), Lady Antebellum (Capitol Nashville) and the debuting Story of the Year (Epitaph). You may now return to Round One of the NBA Playoffs. Re: Music Sales/Chart Thread (Billboard/Hits Daily Double)
snack or jeff : I did a LOT of driving this weekend, and the new hot song of the moment seems to be 'Love in this Club Pt. 2' feat. Beyonce & Lil Wayne, especially in New York City & Philadelphia.
I also see it is getting separate charting (as it should) on mediabase, already climbing at Urban & Rhythmic.
My question is: will this song be a separate chart entry, or will sales be added into 'Love in this Club' ?
I am an avid chart follower but I'm not too familiar with new rules.
I do know that songs like Big Girls Don't Cry remix w. Sean Kingston, and Girlfriend remix w. Lil Mama were added into the original.
However, those songs were not completely re-worked a la 'I Need a Girl' part 1 vs. part 2.
Wouldn't it be fascinating if both songs were in the top 10 at the same time ?

Re: Music Sales/Chart Thread (Billboard/Hits Daily Double)
Disappointing projections for Ashlee, due to a poor lead single. It debuted at #41 on the Aussie Album Charts and Australia is one of her stronger territories. This is her best work to date as well. Oh well.

brooklyn wrote: getluv could you answer my question also ? I'm not familiar with the song but it will probably chart with "Love in This Club". Is it just the original song with an intro/extro by Beyonce and what not? I think there is a certain % of the song that can be altered, but usually a remix is going to remain under the original charting version. A lot of times studios make them when the song is waning. Example, Shake it Off from Emancipation of Mimi back in 2005 had a regular version but it stalled at #2 and the record company remixed it (in conjunction with the announced re-release of the album I believe) and tried to get it to hit #1, which it never did. "Remixes" can also help a song chart on another format. Example: Timbaland's "Apologize" (ft. One Republic) was huge on Pop charts and then was remixed to do well on Urban/Rythmic (though I think it got some play on those formats as well originally) with a bridge by a hip-hop artist (I don't remember which one). Another example would be Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry" which did (and is still doing) well on Pop/ (and now AC) but was remixed for Urban/Rythmic with Sean Kingston (and I love the remix). Love in This Club is sort of peaking in popularity in the near future so that is probably what spawned the "remix" (though really it is just a slight reworking, a "remix" to me is something like what Jason Nevin's does or even what Timbaland did to the original version of OneRepublic's "Apologize"). Anyway, short version, most of the songs remixes are added to the original's sales/airplay numbers. I'm not able to think of any recent ones that did not chart that way unless it was a cover version.

This is her best work to date as well. Oh well. There is a lot of speculation that the lipsynching fiasco really killed Ashlee's career, but who knows. She was sort of in with that manufactured group that was big in the early 2000's but waned and now is especially suffering with the overall drop in album sales.
