I listened to this today on Spotify and it's horrible. This is coming from someone who bought her first two albums.

Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP
It sold 259k copies in its first week, even less than Prism.
I just don't get it. Was Born this Way hated that much?

Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP
It's pretty crazy that the most influential artist of the 2000s has fallen so far, but I don't think the music is to blame, despite me personally not liking anything she has released since Fame Monster. I think it's because her public persona has become a turn off for a lot of people. Same with Kanye West, who also experienced a huge dip in sales. A story like Justin Timberlake or Eminem's come back is much more appealing to people that still pay for music. Gaga's musical style and political cause have also been jacked by so many people. She just didn't have anything new to bring to the table this time, besides more crazy costumes.

Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP
I think it has to do with the fact that when she came out there was a 'cool' factor to her, which kind of diminished starting with the Alejandro video and then after the whole Born This Way album. She is still putting out the best music among her contemporaries so *shrug* I hope the DWUW video is great.

Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP
I personally believe that the damage has happened post Born this Way. I mean, Born this Way and Judas didn't exactly set the world on fire (with the latter pretty much flopping), her character had already become off-putting after the release of The Fame Monster (circa Alejandro, as pointed out by publicenemy), yet Born this Way still managed to sell 670k copies during its 1st week. And I'm not even counting the Amazon copies.

Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP
After listening to the whole album numerous times the past couple weeks, I feel that as an album, I feel ARTPOP is definitely weaker than Born This Way, The Fame Monsters, and maybe The Fame.
I like most of the songs though. Gypsy continues to be one of my favorite songs she's ever done, but for me there aren't any other standouts. Venus and Manicure are growing on me. However, Donatella, Fashion (latter part is alright), and Mary Jane Holland are perhaps her worst songs to date and really drag the album down.
Born This Way > The Fame Monster > ARTPOP/The Fame.

Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP
The Fame Monster is overrated. It's a great EP but the best 8 tracks on ARTPOP would make an even better one. I'm not sure if I like ARTPOP better than BTW but I think it's better than both Fame and Fame Monster.

Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP
I'm with Corpse on this one. ARTPOP is utterly disappointing. Other than Venus, I'm already bored with all other songs. The album is kinda complete trash and by far the worst output by Gaga yet. Pita. As TF/TFM and BTW were really great pop albums. EDIT: I actually tried to listen to it in full yesterday, but once I got to Jewels N' Drugs I had to turn it off. My ears were hurting.

Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP
I've said this a dozen times here, but when she started buying into her own hype, she lost some of her spark. It reflects in the music.

She announced a major North American tour, starting in Florida in May and ending in California in July: http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2013/dec ... dsu-bound/

Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP
Now I'm so sad she didn't come her with BTW Ball. If she comes with Artrave I'm not sure I'll go. TFM Ball was awesome, but I'm not here for ARTPOP's boring 15 songs. Though if the tour tracklist cuts enough ARTPOP it might end up good after all. I'm fine with 5-6 ARTPOP songs if that means we'll get 15 from TFM/BTW era.

Does she still talk and talk and talk and talk between songs? That's a huge NO for me.

it'll be the next single. hopefully. Idk how well it'd do in the US, it deserves more success than Edge of Glory.

Gypsy will tank if it gets released. Such a bad song. Wouldn't go past semi at Eurovision.

She was great with Aguilera on the Voice finale. I was hoping they'd release that on iTunes.

I thought it was pretty cool, especially since there's been a rivalry between them since The Fame came out. Now we need that damn video already jesus
