It looks like Ordinary will be the next #1 eventually. It sounds like one of those early 2010s pop rock songs that soccer moms are into. I guess I'll take it cause I don't like Luther.

Ghost had the #1 album with 89k. Not even Linkin Park could pull off the #1, even though they did technically sell more and were just blocked by some korean boy band.

There is officially a new mainstream band! Sleep Token has 5 songs in the top 12 on spotify. They seem kind of generic and from early 2010s Imagine Dragons/OneRepublic era like Ordinary (but dressing like a death metal band?), but I'll take it.

Ehh vocally I guess I can see the comparisons, but neither of those bands were ever cool like Sleep Token is, nor did their rises feel anything close to as organic. Sleep Token were getting put on the smallest side stages of rock festivals even after they blew up just two years ago because the promoter had no idea they'd be such a draw. Next year it'd be reasonable for them to headline Coachella. When Dragons released a new song it went straight to a commercial that was played over and over and over. And that's from the start too, It's Time and Radioactive were in every commercial way back when. One Republic had the backing of Timbaland.

Sleep Token's mix of lullaby style piano ballads with djenty metal riffs popping in every now and then is actually pretty unique. They captured the metalcore sound and made it pop accessible.

Post Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
So after a week of seeing split reactions to the album, I admit my previous post about Sleep Token might have been a bit off. Seems like my "they are a cool band!" take is an outlier opinion and most fall into either "this is literally the greatest thing ever" or "I don't get it."

Wallen debuting so many songs in the top ten and "selling" 493k albums is impressive ... but not as impressive as the last time he did it. Seems like he has hit his (very high) ceiling. I dunno if his "bad boy" schtick really works with Trump in the white house cause now he's not the problem, he's the status quo.

I don't like these songs as much as his first album's, and his formula for writing songs is pretty obvious for this point, it's usually some 3 word line about a breakup and she's the real problem, he was the real problem, he's not coming back etc. But like Drake he seemingly has a fanbase of girls that isn't going anywhere.

Alex Warren's new song Bloodline with the Fat Joe of this country generation Jelly Roll is pretty good
