Re: Celebrity Deaths (RIP The Queen)
I must say, though, "for king and country" sounds better than what it was, so there's at least one improvement.

Re: Celebrity Deaths (RIP The Queen)
It is weird to think of England without a Queen. For my entire life and much of the media I have consumed regarding England: the monarch has always been a Queen. It feels weird saying things like “For King and Country” and “God Save the King”
Hell, I’d argue that the most famous English Monarchs have all been Queens from Elizabeth to Victoria to Elizabeth II. The only English monarch that I would put on that same level is Henry VIII.

RIP Louise Fletcher, Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. This was one of the best villains in cinematic history for anyone who hasn't seen it. https://variety.com/2022/film/news/loui ... 235382490/

Re: Celebrity Deaths (RIP The Queen)
"Gangsta's Paradise" is a brilliant song, indeed. It almost single-handedly lifted Dangerous Minds to success. But it does feel like that's all he's known for. He did some cameos in movies, but he's pretty much a one-hit-wonder, though I also like "C U When U Get There". He's pretty much the only rapper white people knew until Eminem came along.
It's weird, just a few days ago I watched Coolio on a Jimmy Kimmel belly flop judging panel, and now he's dead.

Re: Celebrity Deaths (RIP The Queen)
I think Fantastic Voyage is a recognizable song outside of Gangsta's and was his first hit, it and another song I don't know 1, 2, 3, 4 charted top 5. He escapes one hit wonder status.
A great eulogy:

Angela Lansbury
I knew her most as the older version but she had her earliest Oscar nomination for Gaslight in 1944 - that was the record until her death. She starred with Ingrid Bergman in it who was only 10 years older.

Re: Celebrity Deaths (RIP The Queen)
Oh no! I just looked her up ironically earlier to find out how old she was.
A legend of the stage and had some iconic screen roles as well.

Re: Celebrity Deaths (RIP The Queen)
Her singing the BATB theme for me will always be the most iconic. Theme song for the first animated film to ever get an Oscar nom. Her presence along with the rest of the cast and film quality just brought a gravitas to that film that it felt no other Disney animated movie had up until that time (aside from Snow White in 1939).

I really only knew her from Murder, She Wrote and, recently, Mr. Popper's Penguins (I watch it most days!).

Re: Celebrity Deaths (RIP The Queen)
I was expecting to find out he was the fat guy in the Full Monty, seems like that'd be the type of random British character actor role for him pre Harry Potter that you find out after the fact. But that was actually Mark Addy who went on to be Robert Baratheon in Game of Thrones.
