We have to get our point across somehow, and you've chosen a good one. I'd do exactly the same in your position. I don't dislike all pet names, especially when most of mine are complimentary and fun. The other day a girl at work called me the "No 1" best looking guy in the company. So I told my wife and now she calls me that. She also calls me "monkey". Re: Pet Peeves I keep hearing people adressing other people with "love" in many British TV series, films or mini-series. Never heard that in any American film or TV show or during my several actual visits of the US. Thus my question.
