Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
Update time! Time to get some more green and yellow in there. But if another blue one shows up before those two, so be it.

Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
I will pick the Houston Astros to win their second championship. Could be any one of the 3 AL juggernauts though.
The Indians had a pretty lousy offseason, but still have a great starting rotation and a weak division. They should make the playoffs again at least and then hopefully a few guys get hot.

Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
Bye bye Trevor Bauer. People around here seem to like the trade a lot, but they also loved the Kyrie trade .. at first. I was the only one saying that Isaiah Thomas wasn't that great and now I'm saying the same thing about Puig. The Indians front office typically knows what they are doing though, unlike the Cavs.

Not many things I love more than the Dodgers being eliminated from the playoffs. A yearly tradition!

Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
Wow the Nationals lose their best hitter, squeak by the wild card game thanks to an error and now have eliminated the NL titans. Will definitely be rooting for them next series.

Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
I haven't watched any baseball this year, but judging from their wild card and division series wins and not needing Bryce Harper, strictly based on a narrative level it seems like this is the Nationals year

Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
This ALCS is shaping up to be a beauty. Or it could go similarly to last year and the Astros could take the next three in New York. I don’t see that happening, but they have the rotation to do it, even if the Yankees made Verlander look somewhat human.
Cole vs. Severino looks like it could be a classic.

If Greinke could just PITCH WELL then it wouldn't be a series.

Greinke didn’t pitch very well tonight but it didn’t really matter. Yankees are coming up short whenever there are men on base and it looks like this will be the end for them.

I mean, he only gave up 1 run, and he probably would have gotten out of that 5th inning jam.

Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
Hinch fucking did it again. Greinke was rolling, gave up a line drive HR and then a BS walk... and got pulled.
And then immediately lost the lead after that.
Congrats to Washington, but man, I would've loved to see Greinke go 8, hell he was averaging 11 pitches per inning, he could've had a complete game.

Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
Yea I blame the Astros manager. Along with either staying with Greinke or putting in Cole, another option was to use Osuna to relieve Greinke, and then plan on Cole ending the game. Then even at 4-2, he still chose to put in Joe Smith in the 9th instead of Cole.

14 Marlins got the COVID so I think this season might go up in smoke
MLB's plan seems like it was a joke. Everyone travelling to different stadiums like usual? They didn't even have Blue Jays stadium decided when the season started.
The NBA and NHL have it easier with smaller teams and short playoff season. The NFL seems impossible. Too many players on those rosters.

I put $20 on the Rays at 18-1 before the season. Looking pretty good right now. Fun team to root for too. Would obviously rather still have the Indians but you gotta take entertaining baseball where you can find it.

2/3rds of the world is covered by the water.
The other third is covered by the Rays defense. Holy shit, they make an incredible play like every single inning.

Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
How do the Dodgers always manage to avoid swinging at pitches outside of the strike zone? Not even the Astros trash can lids could tell them where the pitch was going...
