The awards were handed out last night, and there was a big trade today, so I figured I'd start this thread now. Award Winners: Norris (Outstanding Defenseman): Nicklas Lidstrom, Red Wings Art Ross (Regular-Season Scoring Leader): Daniel Sedin, Canucks Mark Messier Leadership Award: Zdeno Chara, Bruins Selke (Outstanding Defensive Forward): Ryan Kesler, Canucks Jack Adams (Coach of the Year): Dan Bylsma, Penguins Calder (Top Rookie): Jeff Skinner, Hurricanes Jennings (Fewest Goals Allowed): Roberto Luongo and Cory Schneider, Canucks General Manager: Mike Gillis, Canucks Rocket Richard (Most Regular-Season Goals): Corey Perry, Ducks Ted Lindsay (MVP as Voted by Players): Daniel Sedin, Canucks Masterton (Perseverance and Dedication to Hockey): Ian Laperriere, Flyers King Clancy (Leadership and Humanitarian Contributions): Doug Weight, Islanders Lady Byng (Skillful and Gentlemanly Play): Martin St. Louis, Lightning Vezina (Top Goaltender): Tim Thomas, Bruins Hart (MVP): Corey Perry, Ducks No real surprises, though I can't believe Lidstrom is only one Norris behind Orr now. Though if Orr had played for 20 seasons, he'd probably have 20 Norrises. Also, the Flyers traded Jeff Carter to the Blue Jackets for Jakob Voracek, a 1st round pick, and a 3rd round pick. Now they have enough cap space to sign Bryzgalov, and Columbus has somebody to play with Rick Nash. Decent trade all-around. |

I really think Lidstrom threatened retirement this year JUST to get the "he might not come back" Norris. |

Flyers also dealt (captain!) Mike Richards to LA for Brayden Schenn, Wayne Simmonds, and a second-round pick. Honestly, this one surprises me. Richards and Carter were supposed to be the face of this franchise for years to come, and now they're both gone. On the plus side, they signed Ilya Bryzgalov to a nine-year, $51 million deal. So it looks like their goaltending situation is solved. |

Until they get to the playoffs where Ilya sucks. |

I can't believe Jagr's returning to the NHL to play for... the Flyers. |

I'm ridiculously excited to have the Winnipeg Jets back and another Canadian team. I'm also really excited to see what will happen with the conference/division shakeups after this upcoming season, with the Jets needing to be moved to the Western conference. With all of the talk around this, there is potential for some very radical changes (i.e. completely restructuring the divisions so there are only four divisions; or not even having divisions, just two conferences with the top 8 in each conference moving into the playoffs). Peace, Mike |

Looks like a new brand of beer. Or an old brand that went away for a while and came back and you're like "Oh awesome, I remember this!" and you're all excited to try it again and when you do, you say "Oh... right... that's why it went away for fifteen years..." |

I also like it. Simplicity wins. The best NHL logos are bold and simple. Peace, Mike |
