Anyone watching MLB Network?
It launched yesterday.
I'm liking it so far. Despite my hatred of the Yankees I was a big fan of their first classic game episode with Don Larsen's perfect game in the '56 World Series. To watch the full game (well, from the second inning on since the first inning is lost somewhere) with the unedited commercials was a nice treat. I also liked the interview segment that Bob Costas conducted with Larsen and Berra.
I'm still undecided about the group of people they have their though. I'm fine with Al Leiter, Hazel Mae (I liked her on NESN), and Harold Reynolds but everyone else seems kind of out of place. And their announcing crew doesn't give me any hope either. Matt Vasgersian? Wow. Someone get Costas a microphone.
And one small complaint I'd have is with the scroll on the bottom ("The Baseline") of the screen. It's really fucking pointless during the offseason. All it shows is what's going on at MLB.com and the moves every team has made so far during the offseason. And it's that over and over again on a loop.
It's pretty good for a soft opening. They need more programming which I'm sure will come (they've only aired two shows so far and they keep repeating them), but things look promising.
