I figured I could separate this... because this is about YOU golfing!

Do you golf?
How often?
What's your handicap?
Where?

I golf, probably about 1-2 times a month. I usually shoot around 100, but I did shoot a 98 last week. So I would guess my handicap at around 28... But I get to golf for free at my fiance's resort, it is by far the toughest course I have played.

Yes, I do. Started three years ago and usually play three times a week. Currently I'm a 15 handicapper

3 times a WEEK?!?

This is quite an expensive hobby you started there.

Nah. I'm paying 90 Euro a month for my membership which includes playing for free as much as I want at my home club

I need that deal :tears:

How's your driving distance? 300+? 275+? 250+?

On average 250 carry. If I hit it perfectly I can get it to 300, but I'm still to incosistent and my ball flight is often a bit too high which kills my roll

Very nice. I hit it consistently 225, can get up to 250, but I hook almost every single shot. But I am getting slightly better at that.

I can't get out of bunkers if my life depended on it.

Courses near me aren't that generous with the sand, so more often than not I just take out the putter and hit it out that way. On better courses, I can usually get it out easy enough, but can't control the distance whatsoever.

I either don't swing hard enough, but hit is behind the ball enough that it COULD get out... or I hit the ball full on and it goes flying.

I try as HARD as I can to stay out of the close bunkers, because the further they are, the easier it is.

I'm great with the sand on the practice greens but on the course I fell very unsure and often make a mess out of them. Currently the putting is my biggest trouble. I changed putters which completely backfired. I had six 3-putts today :disgust:

I always have 1-2 things going for me on a certain day. Yesterday, my drives were GREAT and my putting was slightly off, but my bunker shots and chips were HORRIBLE.

Last week, my drives and bunker shots were horrible, but my putting and chipping were GREAT.

any of you guys made a hole in one?

The closest I ever got was actually about 2 weeks ago. I hit a KILLER tee shot and got it within 10 feet of the hole, birdied it.

That's probably the closest I ever get... lol

I can never strike my 4-7 irons well. Usually my putting is okay and my driver is stable enough, but the second shot on the longish par 4s always give me trouble.

kind of. I hit my tee shot in a bunker, was pissed about it, shot another ball from the tee and hit it in the hole

Weird... because I can't hit my fairway woods worth a shit. I never use them, I don't trust myself with them.

Have you tried to switch to Hybrids? I put my fairway woods away and bought the new Ping G10 Hybrids in 15, 18 and 21 degrees. Much easier to hit than a wood and not much shorter

Post subject:  Re: The Golfing Thread

I really would love to try some hybrids, but I simply can't afford any new clubs.

I have a $20 driver, a free putter that I took from the range I used to work at, and the rest of my clubs were my grandfathers. I'll eventually get new ones, but not for a long while.

It might not matter to some, but the clubs I use are blades, which I hear are tougher to use.

Yeah, blades are not as tolerable as other irons. Even the majority of Tour players doesn't carry them anymore. I have these which are blade-like as well:

I golf about once a week, and I take lessons about once a week as well. My handicap is about a 4. I didn't know there were other golfers on KJ.

Went golfing yesterday after work. Got in 9 holes.

Drove the ball very consistently well, and it seems that I've finally figured THAT part of my game out. Had some great iron and chip shots...

But the bane of my golfing game has always been my sand game... and now my putting is WAY off.

I should probably get a sand wedge.

Shot a 46 back nine today.

It felt nice, even though I had a snowman on the 10th.
