Considering his status, I thought this was thread-worthy:

Steinbrenner to hand over control of Yankees to sons

NEW YORK (AFP) — George Steinbrenner, who has had recent health troubles, is reportedly turning over control of the New York Yankees to his two sons.

The New York Post said the Hank and Hal Steinbrenner would officially take over the day-to-day operations of the Major League Baseball club at meetings in Florida next week.

"There's always been a succession - and that's myself and my brother," Hank Steinbrenner told the Post.

The 77-year-old George Steinbrenner attended just three games this season because of declining health.

"George has taken on a role like the chairman of a major corporation," team president Randy Levine told the Post.

"He's been saying for years he's wanted to get his sons involved in the family business. Both of them have stepped up and are taking on the day-to-day duties of what's required to run the Yankees."

George Steinbrenner bought the Yankees in 1973 for 8.7 million dollars and his built the baseball franchise into a corporate sports giant worth 1.2 billion dollars.

Baseball won't be rid of him until he dies. Honestly even if he says this he'll still stay involved.
