Jets 41 year old QB goes out with leg injury How stupid were they for signing him in the first place? October 24, 2005 Yahoo Sports ATLANTA (AP) -- New York Jets quarterback Vinny Testaverde injured his right Achilles' tendon and left Monday night's game against the Atlanta Falcons late in the third quarter. The 41-year-old Testaverde, who fumbled three times in the first half, appeared to get hurt trying to escape a heavy rush. He threw an interception on the next play. Brooks Bollinger took over on the next possession with the Jets trailing 27-7. Team officials said Testaverde's return was questionable. Testaverde was signed by the Jets after Chad Pennington and Jay Fiedler, their top two quarterbacks, went down with injuries. He was 11-of-18 for 139 yards with the four turnovers against the Falcons. |

Leg injuries happen whether you're 41 or 21. the jets are not stupid in signing him. he's a proven backup quarterback. |

I just can't believe that the best an NFL team could do was acquire a 41 year old QB. |
