Post subject:  Base- and Softball no longer Olympic sports

The IOC executive comitee decided to axe Baseball and Softball for the Olympic Games in 2012. Possible replacements are Karate, Squash, Golf, Inline Skating and Rugby

Isn't it ironic how they say that the reason they didn't want baseball was because MLB stars weren't in. Just 20 years ago professionals weren't even allowed in any sport.

update: all replacement sports have been rejected, so the 2012 olympics will only have 26 sport disciplines instead of 28

Oh well. At least they still have good ol' Trampoline.

**Was bowling ever considered? Or is it already in the program? I remember it being a demo (non-medal) sport in the '88 and '92 ones I believe...
