Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Sorry Rangers fans. Welcome to the beginning of the hell Red Sox fans went through from 1986 to 2004. Hopefully for you guys it'll be shorter. On the bright side you've guys have won the pennant two straight years and with the Red Sox and Yankees in some sort of personnel limbo (Yankees thanks to age), I'd say there's a more than decent chance you guys will be back next year. You need to get another pitcher though.
As for the Cardinals, I can't think of another run that matches this. Unbelievable.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Certainly feel for the Rangers. Would have preferred to see them break through this year instead of St. Louis and La Russa adding another title. Wish they have a better in-game manager than Ron Washington though, who for two years in a row now has had questionable decisions that, although not necessarily costing the team the series, at least didn't put them in the best position to win.

Welcome to the Angels suffering from 1986 to 2002. Looks like Feliz is their version of Donnie Moore.
Congrats to a team that almost did not make it to the postseason.

If I'm a Cardinals fan though, I get legit worried about Pujols leaving. He def. had a special bond with LaRussa. I feel with him leaving, there's less incentive for him to say. If the Cubs or someone else offers him a significant amount more money than St. Louis, I think he leaves. As much as myself and the folks of St.Louis would love for the Cardinals to sign Pujols for another season, one has to wonder whether it'd be worth it given that he's not getting any younger, plus, Freese has obviously proven he can hit, so why not invest there longterm $$$ on Freese instead of someone like Pujols who may end up playing like shit next season???

The New Marlins Uniforms are very over the top. Being Miami, it fits, but they are too much. The Logo makes them look like the Powerpuff Marlins.
Also, looks like the Phillies signed Papelbon. Could we see some dancing in the stands.

Rookie of the Year announced Tomorrow. Too many good candidates in the AL. Trumbo, Nova, Hellickson, Ackley, Hosmer. Hopefully Trumbo can pull this one off.
As for NL, easily Kimbrel.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Looks like the Astros will be moving to the American League in 2013. With an odd number of teams in both league, does this mean that we'll see interleague play all year round? I like that better than playing half the season against the same 4 teams in your division.

I'm also fine with Astro moving to West. I always thought it was ridiculous that you had one 4-team division and one 6-team division. Plus, it gives Rangers an easy target to beat up on. I am sure the Cardinals will miss the Astros, since they beat them up to get into the playoffs :p I think it makes more sense as well. The odd divisions were stupid. It also looks like they will add one more wildcard which I like. I hate the one game playoff, would rather see a three game series.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
does this mean the Wild Card coming from an AL West team will be easier to achieve (remember, there are also considering two wild card teams when this move is made too).

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Agreed. Bautista had great stats all year, but he didn't do much to help his team win. I think his RISPAVG was less than .250. That is not an MVP. Verlander carried the Tigers on his back almost the entire year. I'm glad the voters didn't let their bias against pitchers affect their vote.
I think Kemp will win the NL MVP, due to the two Brewers canceling each other out. So a team that was 11.5 games out in the divison will have both the Cy Young and MVP. Says alot about the 2011 Dodgers and their messed up financial situation. The lesson? Always get a prenup.

Elisbury finished second and probably would have won it if the Red Sox hadn't collapsed. Speaking of Boston, it looks they are trying to sign Bobby Valentine as manager. I like it because he is experienced and will go in there and kick the player's asses. I think he knows how to control all those egos in the clubhouse.

Kemp had a better year though wasn't on a very good team. Plus, I think Fielder helps Bruan A LOT. Not to mention, Bruan not only had a high batting average, he was almost a member of the 30/30 club (over 30 HR's and 30 Stolen Bases). He complete 5-tool combo definitely made him the favorite.

Not surprising. Since Kemp's team sucked. And if you're on a team that sucks, you should not win an MVP award.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
We know Valentine won't take some of crap that went on there towards the end last year. Valentine is a hard ass so he will be tough. Of course, he is also a character and you know it will be entertaining watching his press conferences. I like the hire. They need an experienced guy who could handle the egos. Bringing in a young manager could have been a disaster.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Angels get Chris Iannetta from the Rockies for Chatwood. At least he's better than any of the catchers we have (both in offense and defense). Now all we need is a power hitting 3rd baseman, another starter, and a closer.
