 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
An entire city just exhaled.........for the time being.
Where was that desperation in the Penguins earlier in the period though?

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
Detroit still dominated the actions in the overtime, but couldn't break though. Breathtaking pace and unbelievable actions.

If the Penguins don't win with a four minute power play then they don't deserve to win.

Yessssss! Go Pens! I'm so glad they won after staying up until 3OT for this game despite working at 8am.
Okay, off to bed!
Peace, Mike

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
YEEESSS!!!! FUCK YES!
Best game I've ever watched. And the longest!
I said it early in the night (to a friend, not on here) that I'm not even going to wish for too much and all I wanted was to go back to Pittsburgh. And it's gonna. Detroit may take it in the Pens' home, but the fact that Pittsburgh went down with two shutouts to start the series and came back to win two is great. I'm incredibly proud of them already. If they go down in Game 6 (or even Game 7), they have nothing to be ashamed of. Great year, great playoffs, and great game 5 with 3 OTs.

Longest. Game. Ever. Really didn't think the Penguins would win considering the Wings dominted most of it.

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
The longer the game went, the more of a chance Pitt had of winning, they're just younger. And the calls obviously weren't going Detroit's way. And Detroit has yet to be great behind their own net, Pitt just DOMINATES them behind the net, it's not even close. I blame it all on Kronwall. ALL. Game 6 here we come. They should've never shown the Cup... JYNX!!!

To be honest, I almost gave up on the Pens once Detroit got the third goal. And I was fine with it! But so glad I stayed with it. Great night from both teams. This was truly an A+ Stanley Cup finals game.

The tying and winning goal were both plays from behind the net. They NEED to cover guys back there.

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
Here is how the media keeps spinning the series:
The Penguins are young, skilled, and the favorites.
Oh wait.
The Wings are experienced and the Penguins are choking... nothing about the Wings being better.
Oh wait.
The Penguins have life... this is what the series is supposed to be like.
Oh wait.
The Penguins choked again... nothing about the Wings outplaying them.
Oh wait.
NOBODY is giving Detroit credit outside of Zetterberg. They have been SHUTTING DOWN Crosby/Malkin and have had WAY more bounces go against them than people seem to think.
And Crosby is a little baby.

Munk-E... sigh.
The sooner you stop caring about the media, the better. I stopped caring about them a long time ago!

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
I don't care about the media. But I have to listen to the damn game. And it's frustrating when Penguin is either the ones playing awesome... or THEY choked.
From the start of the 3rd period until about 3 minutes left... THAT IS HOCKEY.

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
Oh. One thing that is finally catching up to Fleury...
He gives up rebounds like NO OTHER. The Wings get 5-10 of those a game, it's a blowout.

And, they've all been playing hard for a good month or so. Young or old, experienced or inexperienced... the playoffs are hard for any team, especially the final two. The fact that any of them can still stand amazes me. I applaud them all.

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
This was the hump game, so to speak. Pens are now totally in this series. Game 6 is back at home in Pittsburgh, and then anybody can win game 7. Whether the Pens or the Red Wings win the series, I hope it makes it to game 7. Game 7 in the Stanley Cup finals is always the greatest.
Peace, Mike

Since 1996? the Red Wings are 12-0 in Game 6's when leading the series.

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
Detroit has just been dominant this period. You'd think they were the one's who were the most desperate and down by two with about eight minutes left.
