Dan Patrick made a great point today. There is no good resolution from this. So everyone involved gets ousted. People go to jail. Does that help anything? Not really. Something disgusting happened, nobody stopped it, and now lives have been ruined. It's just an extremely sad situation.

PSU students rioting for Paterno are assholes; this is the worst type of scandal given it's nature (child sex abuse) and setting (university). When parents send their kids to academic institution, in this case one of the top public universities in the U.S., this is the least expected and worst nightmare for them. Any school officials who had any knowledge of the situation and did not persistently try to make police aware need to be fired immediately.

Probably because they love him as a coach and what he represented for the University.

I have to say that after reading the released grand jury report Paterno's name is in it specifically about 3-4 times and in reference to one incident in 2002. Now, I'm not going to defend him for not doing more than he could have as he said so himself but there has been an extreme amount of focus on him when there are many other individuals to point the finger at. I see why he was fired but I think the main reason was due to the constant calls for him to be fired.

If ya'll haven't read the report it certainly paints a picture of the demon that Sandusky was but there were really only 2 times where his behavior got questioned in 98 and 02. I think the 98 incident is most egregrious because he admitted wrong doing and got a slap on the wrist by PSU officials as well as the DA at the time. I also think the mother of the victim could have done more if she was willing to at the time too.

All in all, it's a terrible event but I do see why he was fired but I'm still mixed as to why it became the Paterno scandal instead of the Sandusky scandal.

There are rumors that Sandusky and The Second Mile Foundation were basically pimping kids out to rich donors.

I couldn't imagine the situation getting worse....but if that rumor is true.....

What he represented was ten years of silence about child sexual abuse.

PSU should've done differently to avoid the riots was to have make it seem like Paterno came to his own decision to resign immediately rather than fire him publicly. just like for Oscar producing we all know Ratner was fired even though in official statements Ratner resigned on his own accord.

You're kidding. OK State has looked overwhelming offensively. I think the Mathieu kid from LSU has been a defensive beast. Broyles set the all time receptions and would have had the receiving yards had he not torn his ACL. Case Keenum is setting all sorts of records. Kellan Moore set the all time QB games won record.

Bryant is a definite #1 WR pick. Luck is talked about the best QB prospect in years. I think Weedon may be a good prospect too considering he's much older and more mature. Richardson looks like an excellent back.
