The men's team is pathetic. The best players in the world, and they get shut out two games in a row? They need to stop being greedy and thinking about themselves and start working as a team.
If they lose to the Czechs as well, they won't be getting a medal. They need to come together now.

Yeah, I know,eh. The Czechs and Finland are the two teams that have been said could steal the gold medal from the Canadians, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Canada lose again. I hope not, though.
Hopefully this second shut out will wake them up and tell them to play better, but I thought that would happen after the first shut out, heh. At least the US is doing poorly too.
PEACE, Mike.

You know what? I'd love to have amateurs instead of these so called professionals. At least, the amateurs would have been far more passionate. This is not simply bad, it's humiliating and unacceptable. If we can't secure gold in the 'sure-fire' events, how the hell can we expect to compete with Germany and Norway for the top spot in 2010?
Over the longterm, we really need to expand beyond some key areas. In many of the most prestigious and legitimate events, Canada is a nonety, just like the US. To be honest, I think Austria has been doing better than Canada has so far, and Estonia's three golds is amazing. Germany is the clear number one so far. America's 7 golds are laughable; snowboarding is NOT a sport. I don't care what the IOC says, its inclusion in the Olympics is an embarassment. If it weren't for it, the US would be far down the chart.

Personally, I think the snowboard slalom event is the only acceptable snowboarding event (I'd keep this one - it mimics the skiing). The other two don't however. The halfpipe is an utter joke. Give me a break. That is not a real competition whatsoever. And the snowboard cross I think is not properly run at all. They can only race 4 people together, so the finals in particular, was just stupid.
PEACE, Mike.

Snowboarding requires just as much skill as alot of other olympic sports... and not to bag on curling... I love it... but come on! How is that a sport and snowboarding isn't. Snowboarding requires balance, skill... just like skiing

I don't deny it requires some level of skill, but I still think the halfpipe in particular is a joke. I'm fairly wary of all sports that are based on "judging" and "scores" in the first place.
Anyways, it doesn't really matter to me. It's not like I am going to riot and kick and scream to get the sport out of the olympics, but in general I'm not a huge fan for little reasons here and there. People should respect that opinion. There are others who believe figure skating isn't a real sport, some who believe the skeleton is a stupid sport, etc. Our liking of certain sports or events varies based on what we think of it, and usually effects whether we think it is worthy for the olympics.
PEACE, Mike.

Snowboarding = skateboarding on snow. In my opinion, its inclusion in the Winter Olympics is as ridiculous as if skateboarding events were included in the Summer Olympics. Plus it seems tailormade for America, I mean really is it that popular in other countries?
Oh and (rhetorical question time) why does the worst figure skating event have 3 rounds while the others only have 2?
Btw, Germany has overtaken Norway in the total medal count.

BTW: Does anyone agree with me that an actual medal ranking shouldn't be by total medal count or total gold medal count either. I think an actual ranking should have 3 points for gold, 2 points for silver and 1 point for bronze.

I actually like the idea. It seems to rank them fairly. Here is the list according to your suggestion:
1 Germany 39
2 United States 31
3 Austria 31
4 Russia 27
5 Norway 27
6 Canada 23
7 South Korea 16
8 Switzerland 14
9 France 13
10 Italy 13
11 Netherlands 12
12 Sweden 11
13 China 11
14 Estonia 9
15 Croatia 7
16 Finland 7
17 Czech Republic 4
18 Australia 3
19 Slovakia 2
20 United Kingdom 2
21 Bulgaria 2
22 Ukraine 1
23 Latvia 1

Yeah, that's actually a quite realistic list according to each nations performance. Thanks for the work!

Did you see the Italian dance pairs yesterday? The one that fell right at the end. That woman gave her partner the world's dirtiest looks and it continued for 10 minutes!
