It's the greatest win in O's history since the turn of the century. You can say that's sad but it is. Screwing over the RedSox like this is pretty much the close to winning the World Series. You know Buck Showalter wanted to put it to the Sox baaaaddd! lol

Rays Win! Rays Win! Perfect Hollywood script, Paps blows it, then Longo walks off. At least there is one team I will be rooting for in the postseason.

Awful night of baseball.
Oh well. At least there's still FOOTBALL!
And...
Dbacks in 3 Phillies in 4 Tigers in 3 Rangers in 4
Dbacks in 5 Tigers in 5
Tigers in 7

On the bright side the Red Sox are saving themselves on some gas money for the team plane.

No one is picking the Rays to advance to the second round? They have all the momentum and great pitching. I definitely see them beating the Rangers.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Well that was ugly. I smell a rat. Yanks let up 7 runs then as soon as he sox loose, Rays get a perfect pitch for a home run. A little too perfect, haha, but well deserved for the Rays. For postseason I want a Rangers/ Phillies. Pitching and hitting on both seems like it could be a great series.
Sox Pitching needs to be seriously overhauled next year for the money we throw around. Scoring the most runs in the league will only get you so far.

A little too perfect I truly hope you are joking. Well think about it, its the smartest move the Yankees made all year. Who would you rather possibly play, the Rays who you were 9-5 against before this last series, and have keep choking in the playoffs, or the sox who beat you 13-5, and have had strong playoff runs in the past years. Not only that, they could have won the games, but benched a lot of their team, including Rivera when they had a 7-6 lead in the 9th. I'm not saying the Sox didn't choke, they absolutely did. But the Yanks definitely had that in mind. The home run happened less than 3 minutes later the sox lost. Perfect revenge on the Sox after this season. The finest moment had to be the O's celebrating their last place victory (Felt like I was watching Semi Pro)

Magnus wrote: Levy wrote: No one is picking the Rays to advance to the second round? They have all the momentum and great pitching. I definitely see them beating the Rangers. Rangers have much better hitting, get home-field (Texas is much better at home than away), and their pitching overall is not that much behind the Rays. Also, Rangers have just as momentum as the Rays. They're 16-2 in their last 18 games. This team is VERY hot. Rays can win but the Rangers are and should be favored. Here's another strange fact, the Rays have done better on the road than at home for the most part. This was true in last years ALDS, when the Rays won both of their games on the road. I agree, the Rays have the best pitching 1-5, so I think they do have the upper edge on the other teams. I predict Tigers over Yankees in 5 games (Verlander and Fister have the upper hand here, and aside from CC, the Yanks don't have anyone else, and they do have a 4-3 record against the Yankees). Rays over Rangers in 5 games (The Rays have the better pitching of the two, and have a better record on the road than at home). Phillies over Cardinals in 4 games (The Phillies have Halladay, Lee and Hamels ready, but the Cards can pull off one game at their home). Brewers over D-backs in 5 games (mainly because the Brewers have the best home record in the Majors, but overall, both of these teams are pretty equal in terms of offense, starting pitching and bullpen).

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Red Sox had it in their own hand, no matter how the Yankees played for three fricking games. They only had to win one of it. Is their fanbase really that full of bandwagon jumpers that they blame the Yankees now? Are you really expecting Girardi to wear out his starters and the bullpen over 12 innings? Noone in their right mind would do that. Plus: if Scott Proctor could really pinpoint his pitches so that Longoria kann pull it over the point in the ballpark where the fence is the lowest he should have a much, moch lower ERA and wouldn't be used in garbage situations.
If they really had been smart, they would have beaten the Rays since one more game for either team will make more of a difference in the end than the opponent. You really think they's rather face the Rays than the Red Sox because of their season records? The Red Sox team now playing is nothing like the team that swept the first two series between them.

They then went 7-20 against mostly shitty teams (Orioles). They don't deserve to be in the playoffs.

You're fucking stupid. Easy Grill 2.0 I was making a joke. Didn't realize I'd make you that upset. Do you honestly think I'm blaming the Yankees. The Red Sox didn't need any help blowing it. The late injuries and overall pitching has been terrible the last month and a half. Yankees didn't have to win, while the Orioles had to play as hard as they could to give their season some sort of purpose. That's baseball. I'm actually excited to see the Rays play, considering they were picked to be the worst team in the division by most beginning of the year.

My prediction was Phillies over Rays before the games started. Don't trust anyone's pitchers in the AL but the Rays'. And Phillies just have the best team, I don't see bad luck striking them 2 years in a row

The issue facing Rangers is that they will have to face Shields next, whom they hadn't hit much against this season, and then Price. I thought they would and need win Game 1, so certainly don't envy their chance now.

Nobody gave Cardinals a chance, but their offense is No. 1 in the NL, and they just scored 3 runs in the first inning against Halladay.

Magnus wrote: phew. Tigers pull it out despite making so much more difficult than needed. Game 3 is a must-win for Detroit. If they win, I think they have a very good shot at beating Yanks in game 4 with Burnett pitching. Indeed, that was scary. That was a game the Tigers needed to win. Don't worry, they will win game 3, with Verlander on the mound, who is unstoppable even more at home.
