Re: The Tennis Thread - U.S. Open 07
After Serena got down the break in the second set it seemed like she just gave up, I didn't really see any great movement from her.

Re: The Tennis Thread - U.S. Open 07
I haven't watched a lot of tennis for many years. This is the first time I've seen Henin play. It's going to be tough to beat her. I like her. Good attitude. All business, then shows personality in hitting the balls into the audience with a smile. Bravo! Keep it up.
I didn't care much for Serena's attitude. She looked like she didn't want to be there from even before the match in the interview. I don't know if that's common for her. But first impression is I didn't like her.

I like Nadal in this match. I saw him play in his last match and enjoyed it.

I think Serena lost cause she tore her ACL during the match.
At least, that's what Im assuming since she was screaming so loud. Something obviously wasn't right.

"She made a lot of lucky shots..."
Serena never disappoints with her post-game comments.

Henin has to watch out for Venus still, it's not her championship yet. She's more dedicated to her game than her sister, just injured too much.

And I just read, Henin is 1-7 all time against Venus. Though I don't know how much of those were recent, it's still reversed from Henin's recent track record against Serena.

Re: The Tennis Thread - U.S. Open 07
They last met summer of 03 I believe, so there's a fair bit that has changed, but Jankovic has a good record against Venus so I wouldn't completely count her out.

Ferrer just served for 2-1 and choked... or Nadal beat him with beautiful shots, I can't really know, my tv isn't playing it... just watching the box-score. Lucky lucky Rafa though.

The men's matches have been so long this tournament!

Indeed. One can only hope all the biggest matches are this good, too.

Hmmm... I don't see Federer/Roddick going 3+ hrs.
The hyped up matches always seem to disappoint while the ones that don't get much attention are entertaining.

But Roddick's got that serve! And that forehand...sometimes.

Re: The Tennis Thread - U.S. Open 07
Yeah I think the Federer-Roddick match will go like his Isner and Lopez one. Roddick will serve all his energy out in the first set and Roger will start off a bit sluggish, then Roddick will get tired and the next 3 will be Federer wiping him silly. Or it'll something like 7-6, 6-3, 6-2.

I like Venus-Jankovic so far. Lots of deuces and breaks. Breaks are one good thing about women's tennis.

That was probably the women's match of the tournament, IMO. I like Venus a lot more than little sis.
Now onto the "main event"...

Oh God please do not compare this match to Agassi vs Sampras.
