God, if anyone other than Rex Grossman were playing for the Bears at QB in this game, the Bears would've won. If Drew Bledsoe were at QB they would've won.
Still though, can't take anything away from the Colts. They dominated in time possesion and kept the Bears off the field when they needed too.
And I couldn't have been more wrong about this game. This was about as fun to watch as that one from 2002 when the Buccaneers blew out the Raiders.

I don't know. For the first time ever I have the feeling I wasted my sleep. The game was sloppy, badly executed, unbearable (no pun intended) to watch at times, predictable and it had few exciting plays. Add to that the awful halftime-show and you have an only mildly entertaining evening

It could be just me, but I also thought the crowd was couldn't have been any less interested. There were a couple of roars on a few plays but other than that, it was mostly silent.

Might have been the rain that dampened their enthusiasm. Plus: It seemed as if there were many empty seats. Looks like some executived got tickets as a gif and didn't want their Armani suits to get wet

Grossman = MVP
Im so glad Bears lost, I couldnt stand seeing that shit of a QB with a ring. Chicago needs to bring the revitalized Jeff Garcia over next season.

Even Drew Bledsoe would help them.
Shouldn't Addai or Rhodes have been MVP instead of Manning?

yea should have been co-mvps but they both had great games but since the playing time was split i guess they kinda canceled each other out so Payton was the clear choice

There wasnt any clear MVP, everyone stepped up and played well. Not one person had a breakout game (Guess Rhodes played alot better then usual)

I agree the game is indeed super dull. Colts were also fortunate to not face a team like Chargers to expose its run defense, which did step up in the playoff but wasn't given the best challenge, but I'm happy for Peyton Manning.

I don't know why, but Peyton seemed not very sympathic to me in that interview. His constant head-nodding annoyed me. Anyway, Colts deserved that one. Although on this evening maybe even the Lions vould have beaten the Bears

At the end of the day, I think that crowd would've rather had a 3hr Prince concert.

As a Pats fan, I actually kind of feel good for Manning. He deserved one, and with all the changes coming up in the offseason to the Colts, he'll probably never win one again.

The Bears didn't lose because of Grossman - they lost because their defense couldn't get off the field This allowed the Colts to eat up clock and force Grossman into winning the game by himself. I've never seen a supposedly "great" defense miss so many tackles in my life.

... but, yeah. The game was terrible. Virtually unwatchable once the excitement of the first quarter died out.

Probably the most boring game ever.
And the AFC title game WAS the Super Bowl... it had it all... except Tom Brady winning
Oh, and Peyton should NOT be the MVP. Not even 300 yards and a pick. They should have split it between Addai and Rhodes who combined for almost 200 rushing yards and Addai had TEN receptions.

The defense had repeatedly gotten turnovers and limited the colts to field goals rather than touchdowns, Grossman played like garbage, with his 2 yard throws, 2int and a fumble.

I don't necessarily agree. Even with all the yards Chicago's defense gave up, they were only down 22-17 in the 4th quarter. If anything, they gave Grossman a chance to win the game. They created two turnovers (Colts themselves contributed the other one with the messed-up hand-off). They stopped Colts when they had to and only gave up two field goals the three times the Colts were in the red zone, where they scored 20 touchdowns in their previous 32 trips there. Defense isn't supposed to win the football game by themselves; it's the offense' job to put points on the board. Grossman was just asked to make some plays, such as generate one long drive, and he couldn't do it to save his life.

I'm almost as big a fan of your infinite wisdom as I am the Bears, which is saying something.

Hehe, Grossman is such a dolt. How does Chicago go 13-3 and make it to the Superbowl with someone who is THAT big of a dolt? That's a testament to Lovie Smith and the rest of the Bears... god.

Their defense began extremely well also. Rex started sucking big time, and the defense was great enough to win the games anyway. The defense seem to fall apart ever so slightly at the end of the season, perhaps because of two of their starters being injured. Anyway, the defense was outstanding enough to win a lot of games, but came up short in the big game. They can only do so much. They probably got tired.

What a game. WOW! After the first play of the game, the int by Manning and then the rain came down hard, i thought it was going to be a long ugly game for the Colts.
But it turned out to be an ugly game for both but the Colts just out played the Bears and won it.
Congrats to Peyton,Tony and the rest of the team. Well deserved and long over due.

Although I'd mostly agree with that, what was their schedule like this year? I have no idea how easy it was, but I'm assuming they faced mostly NFC opponents.

There schedule was fairly easy, but quite a few of their games were blowouts, at least in the beginning. Then there were the games where they were down late in the game (sometimes by a pretty decent margin) and the defense pulled off some great plays, getting the ball back and winning. They were undefeated for 7 games I think, at the time only the colts remained undefeated as well. I really thought the Colts would be the first to lose, after a lot of their games being extremely close. Didn't happen that way.
